As long as Toulouse keep losing, and we keep that four point buffer, I can sleep a little easier at night knowing that we’re another week closer to the end of the season.

I’ve liked that in the last few weeks Toulouse and Wakefield have played before us, therefore the pressure to win isn’t as great knowing that a loss wouldn’t change the situation at the bottom of the table. I’d dread to think how the team might react to a Toulouse win tomorrow and how it’ll reflect in their performance on Friday v Wigan.

It's so frustrating cos our squad/team can play at a far higher level than this. We are not a bottom 3 team, but here we are. Shocking.

Well that was tense, next week would of been huge. We can’t win because of confidence we can’t win they say so what would the nerves be like if Toulouse had won tonite.

Phil Clarke just said on Sky we will either win or lose by 50, I think he is spot on with that assessment.

Clarke actually said at the end there that Toulouse' managers farming background will see them in good stead for their remaining 5 games of the season. Cheers for that Phil.

Weird though this sounds, part of me wanted Toulouse to win tonight, just to try to shake us out of our complacent "we'll be fine, we're better than Wakefield & Toulouse" attitude.

But they didn't, so we can just continue to sleepwalk through the rest of the season....and we're supposed to be happy about that?

I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s more relief than anything else. The very existence of the club would have been in doubt without either a) us winning or b) Toulouse getting beat enough to stop them clawing it back.

I have no faith in us winning enough to make it safe under unrelenting pressure of a 2 point gap or even just being ahead on points difference. So we had to gamble on plan B, fortunately we live to fight another day.

I don't care how we get there as long as we don't get relegated. Then, we see what next season brings.

Has a club ever gone from being relegation material in one season to a grand final winner the next?

Salford finished 11th in 2018 and made the final in 2019 so I guess anything is possible.

I deliberately used the word season rather than year. I have no expectations that we will be anywhere near the top 2 next year.

Leeds were 9th in 2016 then won the GF in 2017

Now the omen there is, Leeds beat the run away LLS winners Castleford Tigers in that GF, who were of course coached by.....

And we finished 9th in 2017, only to lose the GF in 2018.

All depends if we get an effective halfback paring. Ratchford + Williams isnt it.

I'm thankful that Toulouse didn't win, takes some pressure off tonight. Next Thursday is still a very big game, not as crucial after last night, but one we need to win to dismiss thoughts of relegation.

We do need to remain vigilant of papering over cracks though. We were a victim of that with Price, with some frankly awful performances followed up by a decent win over Saints seem to buy him more time.

On this occasion, now the pressure is off we could have a “valiant effort” tonight, followed by a win next week and maybe Leeds or Cas and if we not careful consider it a corner turned rather than other teams having the cue on the rack.

There are failings that need to be given the attention that they are due, not burying heads and hoping for a change happening without changing anything.
