Was in my thoughts to, who you replacing Russell or Lineham?

Russell definitely. He's simply not a winger and whilst Lineham isn't brilliant, he's a decent finisher.

Winger and an absolute beast of a prop would be nice. Get those 2 and we're good to go

Probably not the most popular answer, but I'd replace Lineham before Russell. Given that we could get the right calibre of players in I'd replace both though.

Pomeroy

I think a new hooker is a must and a strong running offloading Savelio replacement as a bench back row would be useful.

Blythe, Wilde & Penny hardly played, so the need to replace them is less, but I think we need further three quarter cover for injuries - Would it be worth offering Pomeroy a 12 month deal? Is Prell a likely SL quality back up player next year?

I know plenty will want a new winger or two, but is that realistic within the cap that could be better spent elsewhere? Will Russell & Lineham look better (so good enough) in a side playing well? We could have put Greg Eden in a Wire shirt in 2017 and he probably wouldn't have looked too much better than our pair.

Props, we have Hill, Cooper, Akauola, Crosby (plus Philbin & Westwood) is that good enough? Maybe a young up and coming prop would be useful? Where does Pat Moran sit with that, is he a likely SL regular in the future?

As food for thought, KF has suggested we want two marquee players at the club, does this mean we will go in to the season with £150k free on our cap, in case someone becomes available part way through 2018? I'm a little unsure on where I would spend that marquee allowance, is it worth looking for a back row option to take the place of Hughes...? Or should we be saving it for another half/full back/centre? Or is it worth going big on a prop forward, and moving Akauola to that bench back row spot....

I don’t think Pomeroy as actually gone yet, I know he only had a 1 year deal but I’ve not seen anything official about him coming or going.

Until changed, Clark is believed to be our 2nd Marquee player. If that was to change, it wouldn't be just £150k we'd have to set aside, but the remainder of his salary, if any.

The fact KF says we were looking for two marquee players suggests Clark is not a marquee player, despite rumours to the contrary. For Clark to be a marquee player he would need to be on £175k plus - I can't see it.

Pomeroy is decent enough as short term cover. Certainly looked above average outside a quality centre in Hiku.

Indeed,I was apprenhsive when I first saw him on the wing but he done a good job,I think we have not heard anything yet is because we may well have other overseas players in the mix.

Has Pomeroy been playing in Europe long enough to not count on the Aussie quota any more.

Good question,but if that was the case would he not already have been offered another year,I think he deserves a go.

The inter positional play between Pomeroy & Hiku was excellent &,provided he can be kept fit, i don't see why that effectiveness can't be replicated with Goodwin or even Atkins. He would be worth another deal imo.

He played 4 games, 2 against Championship teams and 1 against Leigh who were a spent force, doesn't seem much to base a new contract on.

So what was he to do,oh I know il not bother playing well as we only playing poor teams,have you conviently forgot we were one of them poor teams.

Played very well against Wigan also.

A no from me, but I'm sure he was only a positive influence on the team while here.

I agree with you DAG and other positive Pomeroy posters, worth a year gelled quickly all be it with the departed Hiku and in comparison to Lineham and Russell stands up to a fair bit of scrutiny

i didn't say he did not play well. I said it doesn't seem much to base the offer of a new contract on. 2 very different things.

Pomeroy's performance stands up well against Russell and Lineham, having said that, they had all season to do the business and didn't. I would have to say based on that I would give him another year. However, in his mind he would have been playing for a contract I would imagine, so we should have expected good performances.

Until Roberts signed we have only ever had one Marquee player: Chris Sandow. We still have one free Marquee place if we have the £175k free and (bigger if) we can attract a player of sufficient quality to merit the pay cheque.

Would be a decent option as cover or ideally competing against Lineham/Russel for a starting berth. We've let a lot of squad players go with no replacements. He's better than Blythe/Penny.

Was this actually correct about Sandow though? I seem to remember someone from the club saying that Sandow didn’t actually qualify as a marquee and that we hadn’t used our spots yet.

Maybe it was just one of those rumours that over time became a fact.
