Ashton Sims himself said he was leaving months ago and Sims is a member of the club. Does everything have to come from KF to be valid?

Whilst I tend to agree, I will struggle in a few years time to recall anything of particular note about any of his performances (either good or bad).

The thing about Sims is that his appearance doesn't match his on field skills or ability. Not a criticism. He's a good player without being great.

On the face of it he looks a beast. Aggressive looks, enforcer type presence etc., so that's what people expected when he played. But that's never been his game. Take away the hair and Thor nickname and see him for what he is. A SuperLeague standard prop with the right attitude, decent offload and quick ptb.

Sometimes it's hard separating the wheat from the chaff, especially when there's that much chaff being spouted.....

Thanks for the effort Ashton. Didn't possess too much talent but his motivation no doubt helped us scrape some wins when they looked in doubt. Will be remembered fondly. Shame to see him go, i expect to see other names out the door if he's one.

Actually Sims did an immense job along with Hill last season, effectively the only 2 front line props we had. Always put in a shift and compared to some of our "big name " prop signings been v good value.

Sims has done what has been asked of him and what he has done al his career, we knew what we was getting not a player that will be a wrecking ball but someone who offers a fast play the ball off loads and is deceptively strong ohh and 100% commitment and effort !!

I don't think there's a game he has played for us where he has not given his all wether that's good enough or not is just an opinion but we've had good value from him and he is just a great rugby guy who I'm sure will be misssd by the players too !!

I also think hill has looked at his best when both he and sims are on the field together they complement each other well.

Anyways I'm sure he will be in a promotion winning Toronto team and back in SL if he continues.

We will miss Sims, been solid, dependable and committed. Wish him well for the future.

You quite often find now that Super League clubs announce signings around 9pm, to fit in with the Australian media.

Do you not think we could get a player on a lot less wage with the same attributes and contribution though? He came with a lot of hype, got us all excited, and in the end was an average SL prop, with great hair, huffed and puffed and who liked to tread on fingers.

How much does he earn?

Well we certainly had a prop or 2 with a much bigger reputations (and presumably wages to match) who produced far less.

How much was he on?

I don't know the figure, I am surmising that to tempt him to the UK, with him a regular in the NRL and an International he would cost more than signing an up and coming prop from the Championship for example.

Clearly the club have considered value for money too hence why he is not with us next season, yet he declared his desire to remain.

In the hkr game, did anyone else notice the number of times after play the ball Sims was simply a dummy runner ? Hardly ever took it in. Just ran through whilst the pass went behind him to the next man . Appeared they just didnt want to use him as a contact prop.
He must have been well cheesed off.
Wonder what his carry metres were ? Well last game so guess it doesn't matter now.

TBH most of the second half when we were on attack was about trying to make currie look good.

I can see notion. Might be too late for him. Could be the club have comprised a video to be sent to Aus for Bennett in a last ditch to prove worth.
