| As I said before, I don't get the obsession of some people with Maguire, and especially not with Monaghan as his assistant......hopefully that "dream team" is already over before it's begun if he's staying in Oz. Anyway, rather have Guisset as assistant to be honest.
How much do you think Wayne Bennett would want?

| Nobody seems to have told the Sydney Morning Herald that Maguire has turned down the job. This from this morning's (Tuesday's) paper
"Maguire tipped for top job at Wolves
12/09/2017
Speculation Michael Maguire could take over as coach of Super League side Warrington is growing after it was announced Tony Smith will leave the club at the end of the season. Maguire was sacked by South Sydney last week just three years after leading the Rabbitohs to the NRL premiership. He was immediately linked with the Warrington job. Warrington are bankrolled by millionaire music impresario Simon Moran and have the funds to tempt Maguire back to the north west of England."

| Monas missus is from the Wire/wigan area I think. That would argue a case in favour of a move back home.

Without wishing to sound rude, "so what?" Does his spouse being from this area mean he should be offered the job? No it doesn't - the job needs to be given to the best qualified and most hungry candidate, not to someone who can easily visit his in laws at the weekend.......sentiment should not come into it, that's what (partly) got us into this mess!

| If you get Maguire you'll win things and he will change your club from the first team through to the u15's. It may not be pretty but it'll be effective and like he's done with us, he'll set the club up to keep achieving success for years to come.
People can question the style of play but ultimately I've been entertained with trophies! The rugby under Maguire was actually very good tbh. The amount of movement we had off the ball was a joy to watch with the ball players having all sorts of running options making themselves available.
As a Wigan fan I hope you don't get him because of you do you'll be successful without any shadow of a doubt.

| Let's be clear - we've just got rid of a good coach. It was undoubtedely the right decision, probably several months too late but he wa a good coach.
Anyone who thinks the likes of Monas, Poching, Briers are remotely qualifed to replace TS are in fantasy land and are doing Tony a disservice.
Similarly, part of the issue was that familiarity bred contempt, and the players showed their contempt for a very talented coach by a series of abject performances. How is someone who has achieved zero going to gain their trust?
We've started with TS but the cull shouldn't end there, and I certainly don't want to add to the current group of ex-players and hangers-on.

| Whoever the coach turns out to be he needs to be able to coach rugby & not just how to be "thoroughly nice guys around town".

| Have read from a very reliable source that Maguire is considering turning down Gold Coast because he doesn’t want to leave Sydney, nor does his wife, so unlikely he would be at Warrington if that’s to be believed.
Is Barrett a genuine contender, he’s had a great year at Manly, can’t imagine he would want to leave NRL for super league it’s not like he’s struggling?

| I wonder how many coaches from around the globe that are currently unemployed or under utilised that will be rubbing their hands together and thinking "Top Job going at Warrington, I will have a piece of that"? I wonder if any have had a word in KFs shell like yet?

| Maguire's been offered a job at The Titans & The Knights, so the chances of us getting him are pretty much zero.
We'll speak to a few coaches in the NRL over the next couple of weeks but my moneys on Jason Demitriou.

Oh goodness me,no. Coaching guru with a stellar career CV he may be, but heaven help us he is one miserable so-and-so. He has a face that would send Barney the Purple Dinosaur into fits of depression.
We could beat Wigan 78-1 in the Grand Final and he'd complain bitterly that we conceded one, before heading off home to listen to Joy Divisions entire back catalogue.

After the Cup Final the other week, a random Australian told me in a London pub that he has trained himself to have lots of power naps throughout the day, including in the dressing room on match days.
It was just before last orders... so I may have made that all up.

| No chance Maguire or any front line NRL boss.
Think Fairleigh, Furner types.
Don't be under any illusions that we've rocked up in Oz, hopped off a plane and are starting our search. Ignore any talk of coming back with a long list for the board too. We will already have a shortlist of interested candidates and probably some who are tentative and who need some persuasive chat.
Choosing the right coach is a hard task. Don't be surprised if we don't get it right first time. Wouldn't mind betting that this time next year we're on our 2nd /3rd successor to TS.

| So is going to Australia a smoke screen, they then come back and say yes we signed Toovey, may aswell give Agar the job as give it him. But while they over there they best check that Akauola is still coming since his friend as decided to leave.

Last I read was he was happy to stay here as he still had a year on his contract, not sure how that will be affected with the new coach.
