I was on said train and left a few minutes after the game. Got off bang on time at 2030, wandered to the looking glass for one then got the 2135 15 home with a stop at the chippy on the way.

There are direct trains to Wigan from Piccadilly and Oxford Road too, so the stations will be very busy.

In addition to the Warrington & Wigan fans at Piccadilly, they will be Everton & City fans using the station after their game at the Etihad. Even thought this game finishes before ours some will have stayed in Manchester for a drink etc so will be on the Station at a similar time to us.

Give the missus a few quid, tell her to go to the Trafford Centre..... she just has to take a few passengers on the way...

get the manchester vic train , get off at eccles , plenty of pubs , and you can get a direct tram every 15 mins

No. Stayed until the end, clapped the lads for a couple of minutes and then walked to Trafford Park.

Another alternative is to get the tram to Altrincham then get the Bennetts 37A/38. Definitely worth doing it that way if you live south of the Mersey.

Few quid? It'd be cheaper to hire a limo for the journey than let her loose in there ......

That won't work if more than about 20 people have the same idea and they can't all fit on the bus.

You mustn't have been on the Bennetts bus to Altrincham. They'd let you climb on the roof if they was full inside.

Second maddest bus in Warrington.

Have you seen that they have been using a Ford Transit lately?! Mad as a box of frogs that lot.

They work based on each driver having their own bus which they drive every day, but if you rang and advised that a group of you would be using them on Saturday evening they MIGHT stick one of their proper buses on it.

Sussed it, direct train from Wire central to deansgate.

That's quality. I've not been on it myself for a while but have a mate who used to go to Lymm on Friday and Saturday night. He said it used to be a different price every week. One week they let him on by giving the driver a couple of fags.

No way. It'll take days to get there. You'd have to set off on Thursday.

I'm sure the 12.33pm from Heald Green to Piccadilly won't be too busy and will have us at the Hard Rock Cafe in plenty of time for the 1.20pm booking I've made.

By the way, if you leave your house at the same time I board the aforementioned train, you'll be able to walk to Old Trafford from Warrington and be there in plenty of time.

Funnily enough the walk to the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul from anywhere around it looked exactly like that (minus the rucksacks) in 2005!

Is there a bike rack at OT?

We should organise a bike ride to the game on Saturday. 100's of bikes razzing down Warwick Road, Wigan fans diving out of the way to save themselves. They won't know what's hit em.

I did used to go to United games on a scooter though. It was easy to park and got to overtake all the stationary traffic on the way home.

It is a few stations, but 31 minutes i can live with. Checked it out, looks like i'll get the 10:58 train.

Went on a train last year, had to get a 6 seater taxi back. Going to book on a coach or get a mini bus this year. Any idea how much a mini bus for 9 people would cost. Or a good company to contact?

Be ok on the way there .... coming back however after a few celebratory scoops/sorrow drowners may be a different matter !

I have just been looking at National Rail Enquiries website for Saturday 5th October & there seem to be services every 10 to 15 minutes from Warrington to Manchester via Earlestown with options of changing at Oxford Rd for Deansgate.
