| Quote ="Moving Forward"As a referee myself, there is noting harder than taking control of a game. There's so many different thing to be looking for and that's just when you're on your own. Starts with the kick off;
are players offside?
Then has the ball gone out of play from the kick off?
Has it bounced and gone out?
Has it gone out on the full?
IF it hasn't, has the player knocked on when he's catching it?
Is the next pass forward?
Is the tackle high?
Have the players rolled away from the ruck?
Is there interference during the tackle?
Are the markers square?
Has the player played the ball correctly?
Has the acting half back knocked on picking the ball up?
And that's just for one tackle. There's probably loads more too but I cant think off the top of my head. Next time anybody is at a live rugby match they should take off their tinted specs and think about every decision that the referee has to make. Even when there's no penalties there is still a decision that has to be made. Before you all sit there with your pie and pints, you should get out and referee a game for yourself.'"
What is the rule if in the act of scoring a try the ball touches the try line and touchline simultaneously?
I wouldn't have given Charnleys second try on Friday, but I'm just wondering if that happened is that why it was given.

What would the rule be had his foot had touched the try line and touch line simultaneously? Player out of play possibly. So why should it differ for the ball?

That's slightly different unless he is touching the ball down at exactly the same time. If he's not then he's touch in goal as the ball hasn't been grounded.
The reason I asked the question is because I don't know the answer, and sought clarification. Fridays may have been given as benefit of the doubt, but that's not what came up on the screen.

| On report seems pointless seeing as they can still charge players based on camera evidence that none of the refs saw.
With the GOB incidents i'd have given a yellow on both occasions just so that there is some form of punishment in that game. It doesn't help Saints if Wigan and Catalans had players suspended in their next game.

It's happened 3 times - Bradfords Scruton took him out when he was at Cas .... clearly being targeted as it also removes Saints first choice goal kicker from the game.

BUT their PRIMARY obligation is the protection of the players - if they miss a forward pass you might get called horrible names but no-one is going to die. However, allowing the current acts of thuggery to go unpunished and thereby condoning it, is going to end with someone in hospital, or worse.'"
It's a difficult job to do when it's just yourself and no touch judges. On a Sunday morning you have to make a decision there and then and even without video replays and conversations with touch judges I'd have send the Catalan forward off for his shoulder charge to O'Brien. I'd have also probably sent Scott Taylor off for his on O'Brien, too.

I'm one of the few people who think his try was a try.
The ruling is as follows, as the goal lines themselves are in-goal a try can be scored by an attacking player grounding the ball on the goal line, but not at the foot of the posts in the field of play.
This is taken straight from the RFL rulebook on their website.

As far as I could see, and every other viewer in the club I was in at the time, he put the ball down straight on the "Touch and Goal " line, which should never have been allowed. This is not the same as the goal line.

I think there will be a ban for Luaki for the culmination of two attempt stamps, one on Grix and one in the 70th minute I think on Kopzack then his persistent infringements and running in at various situations.

Inconsistent with lost balls in the tackle, and a forward pass even the most blinkered Leeds fan would have been ashamed of, other than that I agree.

I didn't think he was. Balls lost on contact were given as lose carries, balls lost by someone messing around five seconds after contact were given as ripped, consistent.

| Since last week we got the flack about most of the ref’s decisions going our way, I hope last night’s game goes some way to putting that right. I think now Hudds will go on and win the LLS now and good luck to them, they richly deserve some reward for the progress they’ve made this season. I’ve thought that Wigan would finish third for a long time now, but they better watch Leeds coming up on the rails. The last game with Leeds should be a cracker, refereeing permitting, and third could come down to a points for and against in the end.

Luaki (sp?) Is going to be spending some time on the sidelines though. Not a big loss!

You know what, I cannot believe this bloke is still playing top grade rugby league,
He looks intimidating but he doesn't give much go forward, but can be counted on for brain farts and penalties in big games when it's not going his way, note Wigan fans before you descend on me, I'm including his time at hull as well.
He's really really poor.

If I was a Wigan fan I would be crossing my fingers that he gets aa long ban.
And on that note....can anyone explain to me why 'Mickey Mac' is rated as a player and was captain last night? Wow.

'Mickey Mac' is very poor isnt he... i wouldn't want him anywhere near our squad.
Wigan looked very predictable and robotic with ball in hand last night.... They are falling away and will do well to win a trophy this season. If they win the challenge cup they will have done very well with this squad of players.
Pat Richards time is certainly up... he offers about as much threat these days as one of Josh Charnleys erections at a one direction concert.

Once again, I have consulted with the great minds of our time
Emeritus professors at Oxford and Cambridge
Theologists
Steven Hawking
Benny from Crossroads
and all of them are mystified by Micky Cack's "greatness"
If this plonker gets anywhere near the GB squad, the Aussies will have a field day.

| That shocker today from Roby when he gave a penalty to Wakey for their big lump standing over Ratchford. I always thought it was the responsibility of the tackler to clear the ruck and not linger around.
Another baffling point was the amount of forward passes given today. There were more given then on the whole of Sky this season (well, probably)

Arguably the most overrated player in SL, MacIlorum. He's not or owt, but he's rated far too highly.
I thought it was just me at first, I thought I was on my own with the opinion that I just couldn't see where the hype comes from, but I've seen it said by others recently too.

| I'm really shaking my head now.
I've come away from today's game thoroughly wee-wee'd off with ref's.
Before I start on the refs, it's not them who lay-on for 10 seconds, interfere at the play-the-ball, etc....
BUT....... the refs need to go into each dressing room before the match, and say "I'm watching the ruck speed today, so cut the spoiling out, or you'll have someone in the sinbin within 10 minutes", but they don't, so we end up having a stop/start game, where the players take the mickey.
Our game is so slowed down , it's no wonder the Aussies blow us out of the water, when it's International time. Their play-the-balls are a lifetime quicker than ours
