The franchising system gives a route for teams that are ambitious and have the right structures in place. How did Widnes get back in SL? Its just as well Widnes didn't 'give up on ambition'. But if we're an ambitious sport we can't have mediocre clubs coming into SL on the back of winning a part time competition, when they still have part time infrastructure and part time attitudes.

Aim high, get investors on board, invest in your facilities and your youth system and then you can put together a good franchise bid.

But I agree with you that the current set up of London and teh recent set up of Salford are/were not good enough, cut them, cut Wakefield and Cas too.

You seem to just overlook the fact that the Lions are not alone in the D/R stakes tonights opponents Whitehaven have already had Ade Gardner turn out for them along with Tommy Makinson due to there link with St Helens. It is available to all clubs the fact we as a club got in with one of the best early is hardly our fault.

Of course it does......but the fact the ground was sold and a done deal without the fans knowing about it was a disgrace, that was down to a completely different regime than the one we have today, sadly we have had to put up with a lot of broken promises on the way.

Back to the thread. How did Lee Briers play on Thursday night, and is he ready to come back?

For me, he looks another game short of match fitness. He played in fits and starts, some good kicking and passing, but he is not in the groove yet obviously. Defence was patchy (no change there). One noticeable aspect was the fact he was constantly talking to the players, and I am sured this gave them a big lift. All IMO.

Lee came through the match on Thursday without problem and should feature very shortly

Hopefully the Salford game for Lee with a rest for Brett. Spoke to Moz this morning he doesn't think he'll make the Salford game.
