My personal favourite is Ardbeg Uigeadail (I think tho there as been many others tha thave struck my palate more favourably at times) Laphroaig 10 yo and quarter cask are my normal drink due to financial restraints. but that matters not when I was working 3 of us purhased a Laphroaig 40 yo and beleive me it was too mild |

How did you find it, Philth? Did you like it, or is the cork still in the bottle ? Out of interest, how much did you pay for it..
john7420. I've bought a few bottles of Ardbeg over the years, but just the bog standard one (if Ardbeg can be described as bog standard) ..awesome stuff, but imo (as I've said previously), you can't go wrong with Islay's...apart from Bowmore, which for some reason I just can't take too.
For anyone that's interested, Morrison's have got Old Pulteney, Aberlour, Balvenie and Taliosker on offer, at the mo
And another piece of advice...any of you who shop in Lidl, avoid Glen Moray...not that good (imo) |

No Ardbg is bog standard! The only Islay I'm not to keen on is the Bunnahabhain, IF you ever get a chance to sample Bowmore Bordeaux wine cask you may change your mind, but I agree bowmore distilled after late 70s have been a bit mediocre. |

Philth, hard one that matey, but ARDBEG PROVENANCE(1) UIGEADAIL(2) THE MACALLAN 25 YO (3) LAPHROAIG (15YO) AN I'VE TASTED 30 AND 40YO.(4) AND EDRADOUR LEDGEND. Of course there have been others (lots) but I would think they have been whiskies that have realy impressed me. Ask me in a couple of days and imay change a couple |

I've recently started to appreciate and really enjoy single malts. Just bought the Jura Superstition, on offer in Sainsbury's at £20. Lovely stuff, and probably most enjoyable I've had so far.
I've noticed that Sainsbury's seem to constantly have different selections on offer. Can see myself stocking up in the next few weeks.

Just tried Monkey Shoulder a 3 malt from the best Speyside Distilleries. Excellent whiskey, trouble it doesn't,t stay on the shelves for long.....about £23 a bottle.

I spent many years living and working in speyside where bottles of glenlivet were treated as the currency. One of my favourite tipples though was from outside speyside and is a dalwhinnie. Very pleasant and smoother to drink than many, well worth a try

I know it's a bit late now but what did you decide on? Just been looking on ebay cos I have a coupleof rare ones to put on there (to buy more that I want) There is a 15 yo Dalmore on there. Which is a great buy for the occasional whisky drinker. Always a reasonable dram, as a 62 yo sold for £32,000 |

That's the usual 70cl size.
As I've said before, Islay isn't to everyone's taste, but this one isn't as heavily peated/smokey as some (Laphroaig/Ardbeg), and at £22 a bottle, it's pinching money. Fill your boots. |

I know bugger all about Whiskey as i rarely drink as it is and spirits don't really do it for me but i do like the occasional Southern Comfort but speaking to the father in law who is pushing 70 about this as he sees himself as a bit of a wine and spirit connoisseur and he suggested a 15 years old Glenlivet, infact he has a couple of bottles in the cupboard, he's quite good with his choices but he did say to me forget the malt and get a good bottle of Veuve Clicquot (i had to google to find out it's a sparkling wine).
