King is a great player, but I really don't think his position is one where you necessarily need a top class player.....I believe we have plenty of options to cover his loss.

The main thing is that your pivot roles are covered with top class players...They are numbers 1, 6, 7, 9 and 13 and if Hodgson stays fit (which looks a big if) then i think we are suitably covered....However, replacing Briers and Monaghan in the future is going to be key to our long term future....I think in the next 2-3 years we can expect to see Mr Moran's chequebook make an appearance or two to remedy those problems.

I agree 100% with Wilsons sentiments about league leaders being the true champions.

That's a terrible insult to Leeds's effort last night....To say we bottled it is simply a cop-out, Leeds were tremendous and, in my opinion, would have beat any Super League side last night with that display.

The sad fact is some of our fans have got carried away with the way we have been blowing sides away this year and seemed to expect it every week, and when we didn't we get accused of 'bottling' it.....Last night was a play off match against an experienced, if under acheiving, Leeds side and was always going to be a tough game - There is no shame in the way we went out.

Agree, Leeds played their best game of the year, but they beat us by a 2 point penalty, good luck to them, I want them to win the GF, but Champions? Absolutely not !

Lets be honest - we won two Challenge Cups against sides that bottled it.

Huddersfield froze in the headlights of their first experience of Wembley, and then Leeds crumbled under the pressure last year and played a shocker.

We fortunately managed to avoid our nemesis the Saints because they bottled it in the semi finals both times (like this year as well)

But of course we thought those wins were cos we were just too good for our opponents. In both years we were clearly underdogs - in 2009 Hudds made the playoffs and had the best player in the league and we finished 9th. Last year Leeds went into the game as triple Grand Final winners and they couldn't handle the cauldron of knock out rugby.

Not bad.

However, just to clarify, the Wire Hudds final saw most bookies have both teams at 5/6 or 4/5, and we were marginal favourites against Leeds last year, IIRC.

Warrington messed up and we all know it. Leeds played well and deserved to win because we didnt play well enough to beat them.

All any supporter can ask of their team is to be competetive and consistent and this year you have been,top of the league,some great rugby played,a nice stadium,financial backing,a good team,a good coach.With only 3 items of silverware available its hard to keep winning them in a salary capped sport.

its alright saying leeds played well last night but the simple fact is we were awful and our supposed star players did not turn up,only king and riley turned up, monas anonymous, bridge (make your own minds up) all leeds tries came from distance which shows our alarming lack of both pace and one on one tackling ability!!!!!!! WE need to improve next year or else we will have the same scenario.

....Oh God, another season where we do the double over Saints, Leeds and Wigan, put 50+ on sides regularly and get inched out of the play-offs in the best game of the season...However, will we all cope??....



We got pipped in a great game....We were not awful, neither did we bottle it....It was just a very close game, which could easily have gone our way.

In sport, especially a salary-capped sport like RL, these kind of things will happen....Handle it with dignity and a bit of reality, rather than waffling awful rubbish.

There are 3 Trophies on offer each year, in the past 3 years we've won one of them. OK, it was very disappointing to lose on Friday, but an awful lot of other team's supporters would have liked to have been somewhere close to our position on Friday.

We were 2 points away from going to a grand final in a game which could have easily gone our way. We are now competing in the league and holding our own. So Fishy Fishwick is talking a load of .....

Fair enough, but do you think saints and leeds are losing any sleep over losing to us twice this season. I won't care one bit if they both thrash us next year and we make it to Old Trafford. A good season? Yes. Cocked up when it mattered? Yes.

I think I've got more enjoyment out of this year than I have either of the last two which have brought greater reward.

I've loved the fact that we've lashed scores on teams with regularity, but I guess it may be a small factor in why it went to plop on Friday night, but I think it's been a long time coming where we just blow teams away and it's been a nice feeling.

I think the highlight for me has been our away form, just Huddersfield have beaten us.

The negative for me has been our home form, and eventually it tripped us up when it mattered, I think we need to improve that. Somehow, we seem stronger away from home, not sure why that is ? Do we (speccies) play any part in that? We've gone out of the playoffs two years running at home and have a better away record this year, I think there's something in this.

But all you lot giving it the 'bottlers' and 'cocked it up' accusations are being totally unrealistic......Just 2 major trophies available per year, with at least 5 serious contenders?....The odds are that some of the time you are going to have to face upto a bit of disappointment every now and then.

As I said earlier, some folk have been spoilt by our recent Cup successes and now have their expectation levels set at stupid....We have had a very good season and certainly never 'cocked it up', we simply encountered an equally talented side who shaded us in a close match....No shame in that at all.

How is it pointless? For Warrington finishing top all they had to do was beat teams who finished 4th and 5th to make the final and one of them were hand picked, everyone knows the situation at the start of the season and the whole point is to try and peak for the big games.

Im not usually one to blame referees but I think the standard this year has been shocking. We benefited from Ganson against Hudds. He decided he was keeping a clean play the ball that day, he went too far and blew for penalties miles too soon. Wigan v Cats and Friday's game were the complete opposite. The Play the ball was so messy is was insane. Teams have been beaten this year because of the style in which the game has been refereed. The fact that you can have the same referee see things so differently from week to week is wrong on all levels. Teams need to prepare multiple game plans based on the mood of a buffoon with a whistle.
