I think Dire supporters think they give Eddie and Stevo a ring regarding their players

Brian Carney, you know that ex rugby league player who talks alot with current players, probably knows a bit more about players viewing habits than you.
There is a difference between being shown lines players run, set plays, kicks and wrestling techniques (the type of thing players are shown).... and actually watching a game live and getting a good indication of who is playing well for 80 mins.

I was about to make this point, but you beat me to it!
Players might not watch the games live, but the in-depth research they do on opposition players probably puts them in a much better position to comment on their contemporaries than us or the media.

| MM to win it. Players will be making their choices based on the opponents they play against and gauging who they think puts in the best performances and is most influential in destroying them. MM beats ST in that respect easily. It doesn't come down to tries scored, or headlines grabbed, its who makes the biggest impact.

| I've not read through this read, but when is it decided? If it's after the Grand Final and we win it, then surely it's got to be Monaghan, as he'll no doubt have been instrumental in us getting there and has been magnificent all season.

Cross better than Ah Van? Cross doesn't kick goals and as we know goal kicking is how you win MOS, see 2010.

The awards are in the week leading up to the GF usually.

| If I told you that one player has scored the most tries this season, is second in meters made, has made 50+% more tackle busts than anyone else, and has made 66% more clean breaks than anyone else, putting aside petty bias I would suggest that he was the best player this season.

| 3 players in it for me. Sam Tomkins, James Roby and Michael Monaghan.
Any one of the those players would be a worthy MOS in my opinion.

| Lets hope people have more imagination than just looking at who finishes top and picking a player from the top team.
Sometimes its the guys at the lesser teams that are making a bigger impact on those teams rather than just riding on the coat tails of a dominant unit, that's why for me its Tomkins or Roby.

| Again - not sure what it's judged on, but if you were awarded 'points' for each round of the 27 of SL then Roby (in an injury-hit Saints side), Chase (in an inconsistent Cas side) and Monas (directing the 2011 League winners around the park).
Tomkins is a superb talent but for all his brilliance he just does stupid things and needs to grow up (eg 2 fingered gesture at Wembley). I've no doubt he'll win MOS in the future but not this year. He needs to cut out the 'stupidity'.

And if I told you that one team this season is second in both the 'Errors' (one one error behind the leader) and the 'Missed Tackles' tables you'd think they'd had a pretty poor season.
If it was as easy as look at the statistics then present the award then why bother with a vote.
Lies, damn lies and statistics.

| Sam Tomkins has been unbelievably good at times this year and it wouldnt surprise me if he won it. However I'd give it to Monaghan and I think Wire winning the league will confirm this!

| Hodgeson has had a very good season but for ''control and direction'' then Monas is my top Wire tip for MOS, but arguably Roby has had a better season.
I wouldn't have a problem giving it to Roby over Monas.

tomkins has been exceptional in alot of games.... no one can dispute that.... for me the difference has been that in the big games Monaghan has been the best player on the pitch.... this hasn't happened once or twice... its happened in almost every big game.
yes people can point at roby's meters and tackles..... and people can point at tomkins trys and tackle busts... But what stats dont show is key plays at key times...... and Monaghan has tore SL to pieces this season when it matters... he puts teams on the backfoot and scares the life out of them.
Also the way wire play means we will never have a player with stats like Roby.... we don't rely on someone so heavily... Monaghan outshone Roby in both games against saints... and Tomkins in both league games against wigan.
Monaghan has been the most influential player in SL this season without a doubt.

| This is our forum's 'Play of the Year' vote:
Pos Player 1st's 2nd's 3rd's 4th's 5th's Points Total
1st Sam Tomkins 10 3 3 - 2 73
2nd Lee Mossop 3 2 5 8 2 56
And I've lost count the amount of times Tomkins has won Sky MoM, it must be at least 6 or 7.
I find it bemusing that even Warrington fans weren't naming Monaghan much when the topic came up in [url=http://viewtopic.php?f=21&t=494568May[/url and you are all now claiming he's been your best play in every game all season?

Spot on, deckchair
Monaghan, whenever he has been up against his "equivalents", has consistantly out-shone them.
Needless to say, whoever wins, the supporters of the vanquished players club's will all say it's corrupt.
We've had a couple of close calls with our players in the last few seasons
It'd be nice for one of our players to get this award, but, as I said earlier, I'd rather one of our players won the Harry Sunderland trophy.
