i thought he was their only real threat today with his offloads , however after re-watching the match and seeing his eye gauging he should now never play rugby again , i would be embarassed as a wigan fan at his cowardly actions... and then the cheek for him to start throwing the punches aswell :-S i would have liked to have seen him try something like that to morley/anderson.. he has just shown himself to be a right little bag and anything below a 5 game ban would be a complete joke , as for sam tomkins he deserves at least a one match ban but even a one match ban wont matter considering their next fixture.

It really was as bad as people are making out. I've just finished watching the game again on Sky +. I didn't realise at the game he was gouging Harrison as well as his cheap shot on him. What a scrote. A big ban is approaching if theres any justice.

Maybe he hasn't seen the incident properly yet? I think when he watches it again he will change his mind. At the time from the away stand I didn't see it properly and just thought it was handbags etc. But then I got a text from a mate saying it was a bad one, came home watched it again, realised it was bad and that it deserves a lengthy ban.

I don't think you will see Maguire appealing or sticking up for him when he faces the disciplinary panel.

There's a contrast emerging between the Tony Smith approach which is that the aim is to play the right kind of rugby and then that will will lead to the right results and the Michael Maguire approach which is to do whatever is required to get the right results....attacks to the knees, gouging, pretending to be injured, holding players by deliberately trapping the arm/legs etc win penalties , bringing players back early from long bans for drugs, challenging refs decisions etc.

It feeds through into things like accepting bans, accepting bad reffing decisions, accepting disciplinary punishments. In short behaving like men not like spoiled children.

I have no doubt if a Warrington player acted as Hock did, Tony Smith (and the Warrington club) would deal with the player and then hand it to the disciplinary.

On a similar note I suspect the petulant and foolish Tompkins needs a mature coaching influence to stop him going off the rails and it looks like Maguire is not providing that influence. Looking at the change in Lee Briers attitude (and others) under Smith, he could do wonders for Tompkins.

I think once he's had a good look at it on the telly he'll soon change his mind
