| Let folk in for nowt when there's no obvious need to*.
Seriously though, make a sustained and committed effort to developing interest in the club in mid and South Cheshire, places like Northwich, Chester and even Crewe are decent markets. My understanding is that Warrington RLFC's commitment to amateur clubs working in those areas has been at best patchy and at worst unhelpful down the years.
*Sorry, got stuck in Yorkshire/RL fan mode there.

| Discount on season tickets for Armed forces!!
Bit selfish of me, but if i could buy a cheaper season ticket i would. As no point at the min with The chance of working away quite high. Along with working weekends even when not away.

| Quote ="Rob Wire"This is a constructive thread just to see how we could improve as a club both on and off the pitch, at the min were obviously doing the majority of things right but that doesn't stop you wanting to improve as a business.
1. I think the club shop should be bigger with a greater range of clothing, maybe a good range of NRL gear and international test shirts. The current shop is ok but its very small given how far we have progressed as a club, the way a lot of the things are laid out especially in the middle could be better.
At the end of the day any business relies on its revenue, i just think the club shop and merchandising could be improved quite a bit, in my experiences the staff have been fine though, polite with a smile etc
2. I don't know how the links are these days with the amatuer game but they didn't used to be the best, if thats improved then fair enough.
I'll just kick off with those 2, i'm sure people have their own opinions on how we can improve.'"
1. The position of the screen is awful. As a higher number of fans stand in the south stand why can't we see it ? Should be moved to the West Stand where all home fans can see.
2. Club links with the amateur have improved although only with the usual suspects who are heavily involved in the academy set up. If your club and or coach are not then forget it.......paper touch lit !!!!
3. Club must look at the quality of the replica kits next year to ensure we can actually wash it without the colour running and they are the same as the players wear.
Apart from that all good ............

Haven't we won awards for the work we have done in the community?
The players work very hard in this aspect and are true ambassadors. To slate the club because you are not proactive enough is unfair.

Quote ="SEB"The one thing I would love to see to help improve us as a club is greater supporter involvement. The Supporters Trust (inc. Squadbuilder) was set up in 2002 when the club was facing a genuinely uncertain future and attracted alot of interest at that time. Thankfully the club has grown in strength and security enormously since then. Unfortunately that also seems to mean the fans think they don't need to get involved themselves.
However, judging by the passion of the fans and the interest in the club they display both at matches on this forum, there should be no shortage of people wanting to join the Trust. Or Squadbuilder as well. We invest thousands of pounds a year assisting and helping grow the clubs now excellent youth development system. But more is always possible if more funds can be made available. We would love to see more fans join.
As for all the suggestions and queries raised on this thread, here is your perfect opportunity, why miss out?

hmmm, I've come back to this thread hoping to have seen at least some reaction to my post, but nothing. What do people think would attract them to join the Trust? Is it the name? Benefits of membership? Lack of awareness? What do people think? Sensible answers please.

| I think the problem SEB may be one of the fans thinking we have a super rich owner so why the extra money from the fans, before Moran it made 100% sense, now the waters are not so clear.
For me it's simply money or a lack of it, one home game costs me in the region of £120-£150 when factoring everything in.
Awareness though is problem, quite a few of my friends know sod all about it.

| For me (and this is simply a personal perspective), I don't see the good things the trust do. I see the diners and the fundraising efforts but not where it goes. Perhaps this could be addressed. Again personally on the one occasion I did approach the trust for help it was rejected. I'm not wanting to argue this point in public, but the principals state Quote Its main aim is to strengthen the bonds between Warrington Wolves and all the people of the Warrington area, and to promote the game of Rugby League as both a participation activity and a spectator sport at all levels.'" . I felt it didn't and resigned from it immediately.
Also, as you say,the principals behind a lot of the impetus in forming these two committees was to help the club and the youth development when the club was on it's . Now we have a club with new facilities, turning over a profit and a sugar daddy with a bottomless pocket. I think those behind SB should re-affirm it's role.

| Good points made there. We are aiming to improve the awareness thing, maybe with a newsletter (although there are often announcements of how we have helped on the wolves website, in the media and at the matches) and also are looking into how to make membership more attractive.
On the request for help Steve, maybe if you PM me with the brief details? Just for my info, I have a vague memory of what you are referring to but can't recall the details.
Anyone any other points?

| could it be that quite a lot of the matchday crowd are indeed that, they may wear the shirt (and no i'm not getting into any true fan malarky here) away from the ground but aside from the first team, aren't that interested in the club as a whole if that makes sense.
How many people were in teh ground on friday night, how many do you think were actually aware of teh 9's win on the night, or the following days before reading it in the guardian? if they did read it in the guardian?
i just get the impression from conversations i have with colleagues and other people that its the 2 hours at the stadium on a matchday, then limited interest/involvement.

| Reassure people about the rugby nights you have, people feel put off, they think these events are for uber fans that could recall every match and every player for the last 20 years and are slightly intimidated.
I know a fair bit and personally if i lived up north would love these events but some people see them as rugby geek events, plus i agree with Cat especially the JCL's, the 9's comp if i wasn't an internety type and went on here and the Wire site(which to be fair i don't go on that often) i wouldn't have had a clue, RFL should shoulder some of that though

| Yes, I agree with those points too. I do believe the vast majority of the crowd love the 2 hours around the match and that's it. There is probably nothing we could do to interest those.
But there must be a good few hundred who we could be of interest to but currently aren't reaching. As for being intimidated by events - I can't understand that one. Every event we have is very relaxed and enjoyable. Take the quiz night - people clearly love that as it sells out very year, yet most of the people that attend are non-members!

| Squadbuilder comes across as being very formal where you want people to turn up to meetings etc, the average fan isn't into attending things like meetings and asking questions as again it sounds very formal. Like has been pointed out above, most fans just want to turn up on matchdays and support the Wire and maybe have a couple of beers and some food as well.
Maybe if you made it less formal like having a poker night or lay on a comedian and have a curry night to get people down, that way you would kill a few birds with one stone as you would get a lot more people into one area then you could subtlily bring in what squadbuilder is about at some point during the evening and have a table where people can sign up.
You could make some money off the event as well if you advertised it well enough like some posters round the ground on matchdays and a big advert in the warrington guardian etc.
Maybe you have tried similar before, just putting across how squadbuilder is probably viewed as by the average fan.

| then you're gonna hve to start charging people to pay for the comedian, or whatever, and that'll be another excuse.
That said, i can't remember what your record is on attending these (not meant accusatory, you know what i mean) would what you've suggested above get you out the house and to one of these events?

I used to pay to squadbuilder each month but i'd rather not go into it why i stopped, no i wouldn't be interested in going down even if they had Phil Clarke tied to a wall where you could lob cow dung at him for 50p a go.
Just putting forward some things that may entice the average fan down rather than attending something that sounds a bit formal.

| I'm just not sure people kind of get what it is, like what does it entail. What's my commitment, I know financially it's £5, but what about time wise etc and it's then you'll get folk who will question as has been pointed out now with the investment if their £5 is actually needed anymore.
I think with SqB, I'd almost be tempted to go the other way and play on this being a little bit elitist if i'm honest. I'd make a big play on the fact that if you don't join this, pay this, here's what you'll miss out on and ramp up on that, sort of you look after the clubs future and the club will look after you, and here's how :- (I've made these up)
* Monthly prize draw, make it like 'money can't buy' style prizes, so maybe a shirt, signed & presented by your favourite player or a press matchday experience, go early, sit in the press seats, attend the post match press conference, a day with the wolves, train and put cones out or whatever ..
* Quarterly updates from Smith, Moran etc on the club, interesting that you wouldn't normally know.
* Monthly training reports from Marshall, Bastian etc on who's gone well, what they're particularly pleased with etc, just their insight.
* Squadbuilder interview - each month you send in your questions, a dozen are selected and an interview formed with a player/coach etc.
* Ones to look out for, a profile of a an U'16, U'18 etc who might be one to keep an eye on etc ...
I'd almost have it where you'd hear people saying "Where did you hear that ..." or "How did you get to do that?"
It's like, you guys pay £10 a year, you guys want to be closer to the club than the average fan does on a daily basis, so here you go ... Almost appeal to the nerdier fans, which by being on here I think we are for starters. I'd sort of move Squadbuilder to the people, rather than now the people have to come to it, more information coming to the way of the user, valuable, interesting information too and less reliance on getting off bums and attending events after days at work etc.

| Re the Squadbuilder thing, I often consider joining up, but never quite get round to it. Prompted by this thread I had a look at the SB webpage, where its last documented 'achievement' was in the summer of 2008. I know these things are developmental and take time and so on, but if I had been paying a fiver a month for the last three years, I think I'd have liked a bit more detail about what the cash is being used for (as mentioned by someone else further up the page).
Not a criticism, as such, more an observation.
