I spent season after season listening to Geordie trying to get some kind of Atmosphere going both at the HJ and at Wilderspool,many times people were eating out of his hand..
Some days those Drums became a Dull Thud so much so your teeth would hurt just listening to them!!
I have been on coaches,Buses,and trains to the sound of!!!!Dum Dum Dum DUM dum Dum Dum Dum Nar Na NAR,Nar na Nar WIRES!!!!!!!!!!

It does get to you after a while,besides since Geordie hung up is sticks the other guys have no Rhythem if you know what i mean!

Rose tinted specs I think from the OP. In the late 70's early 80's there was a lot of alchohol fuelled anger on the terraces, and back then you could still change ends at half time. Other chants came from the lovely Warbo and often contained references to Gary Conolly and a bag of sweets.

AG AGR etc, It's a long way to Central Station, Everywhere we go-oh etc. Plus there was no originality either.

I've probably said this before but I always imagined the "barmy Army" of the day sat round in a pub discussing this subject.

Our "songs" are rubbish, and aside from the odd "WIRES WIRES WIRES" chant and the Wembley songs in the latter rounds of the Cup I don't join in with any of them, unless I've been drinking and its a big game which occassionally sees me get carried away.

The only good song in the whole of rugby league that doesn't belong to Leeds United first and foremost though, is Old Faithful.

I've never really understood why "Warrington Warrington Warrington" never gets sung to that tune to be honest.

It's as easy as you can possibly get but can round rousing if the whole crowd are belting it out.

What about poor wire tommy and 'every other Sunday'

Assuming that St Helens don't race into a 30 point lead by half time, there'll be a cracking atmosphere on Friday. It's nowt to do with the singing or the stadium, it's the opposition (and fans) and the closeness of the match.

That one was the only one I could vaguely stomach yesterday, when we had the misfortune to sit right between the sticks with a gang of kids behind us. [i(I really had to stop myself typing 'youths' there, Christ....)[/i Every 3 minutes, some kid with a voice like a foghorn shouted an observation to the vague tune of any rugby tune thinkable, it was extremely annoying, and don't even get me started with the 'bouncy bouncy' ballcocks.

Chants about people being paedophiles, not funny.

Chanting at kids and pensioners walking past, not funny.

Chanting at the lone vexed up KR bell-end trying to wind us up, OK, that was funny.


Oh,and that Depeche Mode song? For Gods sake, why? It's shlt enough at the football, let's just leave it there.

Bloody hell G they are talking about you as being some kind of musical genius here. Listen if anyone wants to start drumming I have still got a big loud one in the garage but if anyone wants it I will be holding X Factor style auditions looking for the next stick monkey.

And can I say the best atmosphere I have been in during the last 20 years was the CCSF against Wigan. Wilderspool was bloody dreadful most of the time.

No one likes humourous but childish chants
No one likes to sing semi abusive chants (you know like town full of jip o's)
No one likes to Sing Wemberlee wemberlee during Superleague games
No one likes to sing top of the league havin a laugh in June (its a marathon not a sprint)
