I was there at the 80-0.
We left when it got past 50, then in the car going home we listened to the match on the radio and all you heard was

"...and Saints are in for another"


Bad times!

Same for me, I was there and didn't go back to Knowsley Road until two years ago.

Strange as it may seem, we went to the match actually expecting to win, our record there have been pretty decent prior to that match.

TIME TO END THIS RIDICULOUS RUN OF RESULTS WIRE!!!!!!

I was there, seem to remember the clock being almost perfectly in sink with the score board, and towards the end of the game we were all singing wear sh~~e and we know we are, rrr great days noooot

10 years of hurt

anybody remember being at the game in the 80s that seemed to be 9 v 10 at one point with all the sendings off? I think we won in the end!!!

I remember looking at the scoreboard after 9mins and it read 18-0 and thinking the game was already over, also the Wire fans singing "drop the goal" hoping we wouldn't be nilled.

I was at the 80-0.

Regal trophy semi was quite big in those days. Was all full of hopes that evening. As it was rearranged from the Saturday and saved us from being on Grandstand.

Left at 60 odd - nil and was back in the pub at full time.

The 80-0 game was televised later that night, think it was on Sportsnight.

'Johnson, Johnson pack your bags, Johnson pack your bags...'

Mind you it really wasn't his fault.

Was there for both of these games, also was at the one that ended up about 10 a side , think that was in the lancs cup.

Does any body remeber watching in the 70's when john bevan scored either 4 or 5 tries ?

I was at the 80-0 (and stayed to the finish). Felt a bit like your favourite pet dying in front of you. Gave the flogging the following week a miss. As a Wire since '67 that's about as bad as its got for me.

I was 10 when i went and watched that 80-0er. I dont remember much details of the match, just the score board,*i think* the pouring rain and my grandad calling some bloke a w*nker, which shocked me a bit as id never heard him swear before that lol.

Memories eh!

I was there for both, the definative lowe point in the 21 years of watching warrington.

I remember me and my dad sat in the car after full time and he didn't even turn the car on for what felt like an age...we just sat in stunned silence.

How can a father console his son after that ha-ha

Despite living in London at the time I was there for the 80-0. Took the day off work (pulled a sicky) and had to drive back to London, on my own, straight after the match and my car stereo wasn't working.

At least I didn't have to try too hard to look like I had been ill the day before!

I'm still at a loss to explain this game.

We weren't in bad form
We had a decent enough side

Was there mutinity in the camp (had the players had enough of Johnno, who had been here for over 7 years, unheard of, now)

Or was it JUST down to the fact that we went 18-0 down without 10 minutes being played, and the problems just snowballed, and the game went out of control.
From memory, it wasn't like we were starved of the ball that night. It just seemed like every time Bobbie Goulding had the ball in his hands, Stains scored.

Ends in about five hours.

Believe it when I see it but admire your confidence.

I have been told on numerous occasions that something had gone on in the changing rooms directly before the match. Not sure exactly what though.
