| He's correct we are in need of 2 half backs over the next couple of years and we where in for him when you signed him. I will give him his due he turned us down to try and win the position as the main player for the wire. So at least you can say he's not a quiter. He could of took the money and run.

Agreed. I think this year is when he will really kick on and pushing very hard for a Four Nations jersey next year.

I agree I think he will have a stand out year next year. However he's another in the halves in a similar mould as that of McGuire/Tomkins/Brown, even Eastmond, where they aren't going to be a general type of player (such as Briers, Deacon etc) which is what we're really lacking at international level.
Hopefully Eastmond will stay in RL for a few more years yet and develop that side of his game.

| I've been told by someone very rarley wrong that Hull put an offer in for Myler and it was accepted by Warrington, Myler didn't want to leave Warrington, he wants to stay and fight of rhis place.
Happy with the Westerman signing, give us better attcking options and allows us to move Fitzgibbon on prop, also like Warrington shows the club has ambition if tehy are preapared to pay out big transfers on players, in a sport where transfer fees don't happen very often.

Even those "rarely" wrong are still actually wrong now and again by definition: this being one of those occasions.
With Leeds out-bidding us for Hardaker, Wigan buying Gleeson and Hull forking out for Westerman I guess it puts an end to the "only Warrington pay transfer fees" rubbish.
I can't see how we could of possibly accommodated Westerman within the salary cap for next season although if he had hung on a week or so we could have paid him in Take That tickets.

Half of my office were 'working from home' yesterday to buy tickets for Take That. I'm going to take great delight in thanking them for their contribution to Warrington Wolves, however indirectly.

Win-win for me. Online at 0900 with the other million people and just seven and a half short hours later, bosh, 2 tickets. If Rooney had hung on for another week, we could have signed him as our new kit-man.
With only the most tenuous link back on-topic (young talent), I saw Kev Penny in Debenhams today. I wished him good luck for next season, he looked sad. I wanted to give him a big hug and ruffle his hair. We'll always have our memories of Saints, Kev. <sniff>

I thought we had a little available, also based on more players out than in for next season.

| Are we really that worked up about Westerman not joining? Yes he looks like he has some potential, but the jury is out on him. He's not like Scully or Sinfield who when they started off you knew they were going to be top class. He's more like a young Danny Tickle, good but blows hot and cold. When Wigan signed Tickle it was supposed to be a major significant transfer and there was uproar when David Waite picked Forshaw ahead of Tickle for GB....but in the end Tickle has never been as good a player as Forshaw was. Will Westerman be as good a player as Westwood? Will he be as good as Harrison? Maybe he will but given our other options I wouldn't shell out big money.

Different types of player but agree with that. Harrisons England debut yesterday and Westerman's exclusion from the squad proves who currently is rated higher. Can see Big Ben being used entirely as a front rower in the next couple of seasons. Worried about the Myler rumours if true. Why are we trying to offload him after one season? Super little player, not a scrum half who can move the side around the park (yet) but that will come in time.

I think we will only know aboutt hen when we see the almighty's approach to Myler next season. I wouldn't think that Warrington would be getting rid after one season. This isn't like Man city or something. I think both TS and the backroom staff all can appreciate that Myler is young and i developing. As with westerman, he has bags of potential. I'd assume Hull thought they could make a bid and Myler put it to rest.

Neither would I but I also wouldn't have them competing for the same position. For me, Harrison is an out and out prop, or at least will be soon enough.

Whereas I think Westerman has the potential to develop into an absolutely top class LF. I think if a top club had come in for him a year or two ago then he'd be right in contention for an England jersey.

i don't see it, i honestly don't.
Even when he was playing better, the year before last i can't say i've been impressed like i was when i first saw, say scully playing for us around 18. He just had that !"WOW"! factor about him.

Oh I don't think he'll ever be near the Scully class. But I think he can (probably should) develop into a top super league LF. I don't think he's ever going to light up the international scene but at least has the talent to push for an England shirt.
