i was thinking about this the other day, the poor lad gets hammered every time he drops the ball, yet his form going forward has been good recently, you look at who slots in when briers and the like have been injured, hes been involved in a few of our trys recently if not scoring, then in the build up. if we assume that hicks is going, then we need someone to replace him, mathers may not be a natural winger, but we know for sure he has pace and he can break tackles, something some wingers struggle with. if we sign hodgson... he is our fullback, fine... but then we need to sign someone else to replace hicks. I think we should keep the boy on and move him out to replace hicks, i know it sounds stupid... but he is dedicated to the club, he loves playing for tony smith, and i think thats something that is hurting him the most, as well as being fobbed off by the club so early in the season... i think the club has handled things very harshly.... how can we expect him to put 100% in to everything knowing that the club arent really bothered! We are treating him the same way as wigan did, and thats horrible... its just a shame that a lad has obviously in less than a week gone from being fully commited and looking forward to the games every week, to down in the dumps! i for one will be cheering the lad on throughout the rest of his time with us.... and i plead for all of us wire fans to do the same... imagine if you were told you were working for your job, youd need all the support you could get... lets give it to the lad for giving us his all everytime he steps onto the pitch! I don't doubt for a second that Richie will do the best he can do for aslong as he is a Warrington player. And that is all we can hope for, which is the same for any player.

Its very easy to compare current players less favourbly than those at other clubs. Players at the moment will get slated for their mistakes on the pitch but "good stuff" will be forgotten (eg: Kevin Penny's speed outwayed by the fact that he couldnt catch a cold). Players at other clubs will be remember the brilliant plays that opponents did to us. BH maybe the current man of steel but that was an award made LAST year and dont foget he never even turned up in the final.

Personally, as long as whoever pulls that shirt on each week gives his best for the club, the team and the fans they get my vote. Its up to TS who he thinks is ready to be given the shirt.

Feel for Mathers has he is a hardworker and a top bloke. The lads effort and commitment cannot be faulted, if we were told that RM would leave at the end of the season, i'd like to think he would get a great send off he as been a good player for us and nobody can forget his fantastic Wembley performance.

Mathers has wlays been the player that bounced around with back slaps and high fives, looking to get everyone going. Grat guy to have around the place but as people have said, in sport you look for people to improve your team.

Clearly hasn't worked out for him since he left us. Always going to be difficult to come back from 2 knee reconstructions so early in a career.

I have no doubts he'll find another Superleague club.

I Like mathers. Can't deny he is prone to the odd brain fart but he wears the shirt with pride and gives everything he has got every game. IF Tony smith thinks that he hasn't got what it takes then we will have to trust him.

It does bother me the amount of mathers bashers around. How many of the 17 that take to the field each week don't make at least one error a game? A knock on, missed tackle, lazy penalty etc. I bet its not many but because of the position mathers plays then his mistakes are highlighted and usually punished.
