| Quote ="MikePB"We were talking about this in the pub last night. For me, Smith has to bring in either Diskin or Higham for the game against the aussies. Moore was terrible and Roby wasnt much better. There seemed to be no platform from dummy half, for the forwards to perform.
Eastmond's defence isnt a issue. Not sure of the stats, but he played centre for the last few games of the season and did very well considering his size. I just think we need a traditional hooker who can distribute well. Diskin for me, with Roby off the bench'"
diskin to start for me for the expiriance, and roby or higham off the bench

Exactly. In answer to the other poster, why would I have to watch last nights game to know whether Higham should be in the team?
He is not an international standard hooker, and by this I mean not good enough to play for England against either New Zealand or Australia.

Oh no they were not. My views on Higham are exactly the same as they were when he was at Wigan, and ones I if you go back yo his time at Wigan were well documented.
The majority of Wigan fans who know their rugby will tell you that bringing in Higham and getting rid of Newton was one of the worst decisions Wigan have made.
The first chance Noble got he signed Shane Millard, and then when Highams contract was up got shut.
If Higham is the answer then why has he been shown the door at Saints and Wigan?
Just finally, I have nothing against Higham personally, he is a smashing lad, but IMO not a top class hooker.
Do you think it was co-incidence that Warringtons form improved when Monaghan and Clarke shared the hooking role?
Just to illustrate the point
Wigan tries per season
Newton as hooker
2003 - 125
2004 - 125
2005 - 119
Higham arrives
2006 - 110
2007 - 102
2008 - 104
Higham leaves
2009 - 130

What are you on about?
Prior to Higham getting injured Warrington had lost just 1 out of their previous 8 games and Higham was in the running for our player of the season at that stage.
After his injury we lost the next game at home against a badly out of form Bradford and then won away at Catalans when Clarke did 80 minutes at hooker. Our only other Super League wins without Higham were Hull at home and Celtic away (2 of the bottom 3).
So to clarify winning 3 out of 10 is an improvement of form compared to 7 out of 8. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of Mickey Higham and Warrington; I'll bookmark it for future reference.

Here's the reality.
[urlhttp://www.superleague.co.uk/results.php?team=Warrington&days=&submit.x=8&submit.y=6&submit=login&c=88&s=2009&id=[/url
Your eight superleague games prior to the Bradford home game were
Catalan Won (Higham started)
Salford lost (Higham started)
Cas lost (Higham started)
Bradford won (Higham sub)
HKR lost (Higham sub)
Huddersfield lost (Higham sub)
Wigan won (Higham sub)
Cas won (Higham sub)
But you do seem to have done a little better when Higham was sub.

Who mentioned Super League games. We had a rather good cup run this year. Check your bookmarks if you can't remember.
Either way you said our form was better after Higham got injured which it wasn't so do you accpet you was wrong? Simple yes or no will suffice.

The actual previous 8 games were actually:
Castleford - W
Hull KR - W
Wigan - W
Hull - W
Featherstone - W
Hull KR - L
Huddersfield - W
Bradford - W
You will also notice that in real life a score of Warrington 40 Huddersfield 18 goes down in the records as a win for Warrington and not a loss as you reckon. Care to admit you was wrong yet or do you want to bookmark it and come back later?

I accept I made a mistake with the Huddersfield game, but how come you are counting the cup games in which Higham played and not the ones in which he didn't. It would be a much fairer comparison to just use the Suoerleague games, and didn't you also rest a few players in the build up to Wembley?
Also as I pointed out on the tries for Wigan when Higham played v the tries when he didn't, it's interesting to note that since he arrived at Warrington your league position has slipped from 6th to 10th, although even I wouldn't put that just down to Higham would I.
I still maintain he's the third best hooker at Warrington, and should be nowhere near an International jersey.

Couldn't give a toss how many tries Wigan scored in each particular season. You could argue Warrington didn't win a major trophy for 35 years before Higham and won one the first season he is with us. Put like that he's hearly as super-human as Sam Tomkins is.
You said Warrington's form improved when Higham was injured and Clarke and Managhan rotated at hooker. It didn't - you was wrong just admit it or show us your bookmarks from pre-semi-final because we're still waiting for you to fulfill that promise.
