IMO there was very little showing the place in a bad light, compared to the recent one they had filmed round Anfield for example.

The overall feeling conveyed was of Warringtonians as warm hearted people, especially the feller running Long Lane Garden centre a story which brought a tear to my eye.

The camera panning as he walked past the boarded up old baths was a superb shot to sell that kind of programme.

No suprise they didnt mention grappenall hayes & appleton were some footballers live, would have changed things then

We sometimes take the out each other in this town. People from Latchford saying Orford is rough and vice versa, but nowhere in Warrington compares with the big cities in this country. We have two on our doorstep in Liverpool and Manchester that has problems far far worse than what we have.

I saw and read the article from the Guardian (I think) it had direct quotes from whatever his name is.

Didn't watch the programme and still haven't.

I don't think it made Warrington look that bad.

His complaints about his house made me laugh, there's no pictures on the wall and there's no curtains. WTF does he expect, i've seen a darn sight worse on this programme before.

Didn't show much action from the mean streets of longford either, probably as it not as bad as they expected.

..and it was Currans road just off gough ave. The pictures on the wall probably ran away.

I hate the patronising fookers. If they were interested in anything else other than advertising their so called charitable nature they would just give charitably in private

I wouldn't worry too much....I actually stumbled across the John Prescott 'Class' programme last night, and there were places on that show that made Longford look like a right treat!!...



Some coastal town in Essex (Can't recall its name) that looked like a scene from a Spaghetti western....

the programmes point is to highlight areas in towns or cities that have economic and social problems,warrington is not immune to this as is any other place.i admire anybody who puts their hand in their pocket or devotes time to helping any charities and thought the secret millionaire himself was a top man who came out of poverty and is willing to put something back.
i did some volunteering work at the winter warmer day at the gateway centre yesterday and met graham from the long lane garden centre,a lovely man with learning difficulties who works at the centre,he was loving the fact that he'd been on the telly and was really proud of the garden centre,to see how happy the money that the centre got had made him and the others down there really did brighten my day and makes you realise that yes these programmes are there to attract viewers but they do a lot of good too.

so why not contribute in private like millions of other charitable people / the people who devote their entire life to charitable work?
