| Things I can't wait for:
1. The drive down to London. All the excitement of going away for the weekend to watch the Wire, not to mention talking the mickey out of the Saints fan in our party!
2. Starting the build up early on Friday night by getting smashed.
3. The build up to the game on Saturday and hopefully bumping into a fair few people, either from here or my other friends/family who are making the journey.
4. Singing Abide With Me (hopefully Katherine Jenkins will be singing it! )
5. Bowing my head and shunning the national anthem in the national stadium, ala Brian Carney when he played for GB. Awesome.
6. Having a silent moment and just looking around Wembley being packed with Primrose and Blue.
I'm sure I will think of much more before I get back home from work!

Pfft. You must be joking. Worst anthem ever. Give me Jerusaslem or Land of Hope and Glory any day of the week. At least both describe England, and not some shrivelled up German bint who's probably never been to a RL game in her life and who probably won't.

Sorry fella, but that's my personal opinion and if you don't agree, I fully respect that. No hard feelings.
Anyway, goingoff on a bit of a thread drift here.

| Oooo so many things to look forward to!
* Putting on my blue and yellow costume I'm working on for the first time.
* Driving down the motorway amongst the many other cars, minibuses and coaches decked out in p&b.
* Travelling with a bunch of mates, drinking beer and singing Wire songs all the way!
* Stopping at service station with all the other fans and enjoying the atmosphere and sense of cameraderie.
* Being outside the ground before kick off amongst all the other fans. I've never been to a major cup final, much less a Wire one and it's going to be amazing!
* The team coming on to the pitch. I'm getting goosebumps now thinking of the roar that will come from the sea of primrose and blue.
* Warrington's first try. I hope it's Lee Briers. He deserves it.
* Hopefully the countdown to the final whistle as the winning side. Counting down those final ten seconds as winners of the 2009 CC would be incredible.
I'm so excited. I feel like I can't possible wait two more weeks!

Completely agree, the monarchy is an outdated institution like the national anthem which is possibly the worst out of any country in the world. Usually turn the sound off when it comes on, won't be able to do that at Wembley obviously. Land of Hope and Glory would be a much better song to play.
Anyway back to Wembley, looking forward to seeing a sea of Primrose and Blue outside the ground where I'd imagine we will outnumber Huddersfield fans about three to one.
Also seeing fans drinking in the pubs round London, as a metropolis its big enough to absorb the occasion without it being obvious to everyone but thousands will realise that the Wire are in town.

| *Putting on my P&B in the morning
*Turning the corner on the coach and seeing Wembley at last
*Paying my £4.50 for a pie
*Standing at the top of the step to see all the fans there
*Watching the '74 players go round the pitch
and the one that will top it is the players coming out... the will turn me to jelly

That is 'socialist' in inverted commas. Maybe I should use 'anarchist' or 'republican'. Either way they are ill informed comments.

| A socialist would be unlikely to suggest Land of Hope and Glory as an alternative, being as it is the anthem of the Tory Party.

| Jerusalem is a hymm/anthem for socialist reform, though
Personally, I can't wait to see grown men cry.
Nor can I wait to see our kid's face. She didn't want to come to Widnes at all, because two of her little friends were going to the park, but by the time it kicked off, she was singing away and telling the Wigan fans she didn't like their shirts.
Post match, she was literally dancing home and singing She Wore A Yellow Ribbon and telling her mum she's going to Wembley. "Mum, I'm going to Wembley... where's Wembley, Bobby? ... Mum, have I ever been to London?"

As for Mark M's comments it is totally possible and coherent to be a supporter of a Republic and a patriot. Suggest you inform yourself here www.republic.org.uk/about/index.php

| the number one thing for me is just being at Wembley with all the lads i have watched Wire with. The stories you will be able to your kids, grandkids later on in life.Like my grandad and dad tell me now.We are going to be apart of history. People will talk about this for years to come as the 1st Wire side since 1974 to win the challenge cup
on lighter note asking for the coach to pull in so we can have wee and getting the usual groans from every eles on the coach

| Abide with me.
The winning try (in my head, King has the ball in one hand and Kevin Brown in a headlock in the other arm, dragging him fully 30m under the sticks. Possibly not a legal play).
The moment where it sinks in that Wire are playing at Wembley.
