Don't let that distract from what a top drawer game this was tonight. It's not often I've felt able to say that this year, but this match had the lot - real aggression in the tackle from Warrington, some unbelievable last ditch defence from Saints (the Gardner tackle and the Johnson 'held up' were worth the admission alone), thrilling attack and some superb tries to boot.

Classic game, in the balance until about 10 mins to go, superb stuff.

If both teams manage to make the CC Final, you couldn't wish for a better game.

Credit to Warrington for pushing us all the way, and huge praise to Saints for pulling that one out of the bag.

I did miss it and I missed pryce holding carney back.

I think the fact we had Briers, Morley and Hicks out didnt, help, as well as Rauhihi and Higham. I thought we had a chance with Long and Cunningham out but it turned out we had more injuries then you

Saints got lucky tonight (again) some silly decisions from Mr.Silverwood.
It was funny to watch that fat ginger scouse bloke graham shouting at fa'asavalu and all of teamates, silly boy fun to watch though. Saints fans are really poor. I didn't hear them sing tonight apart from when they scored and when they did all it was was 'ade gardener' or 'lee gilmour' or somthing daft like that.

Quality missing from both sides, but plenty still out there on the field.

Briers, Morley and Hicks was out yes fair enough, but Saints also had Cunningham, Long and Gidley out. So not exactly a disadvantage to either side.

FWIW i too thought it was a great performance from both teams, the officials (not just the ref) did miss a few things from both sides but the incident with Pryce holding Carney was stand out for me especially as the Flaggy was so close to it. Like most of our fans I don't like to see Saints play dirty and as such if any action is taken on the back of watching the tape again, will take it on the chin (no pun intended).

As TM-TL states further up, having seen several replays the hit on Grix seemed to come from the tackler's arm moving up off the ball. Gilmour did appear to be late on Mathers in slow mo replay.

The fact that both teams put in so good a performance with key personnel out made it even more pleasing to watch. Your squad is clearly growing in confidence and strength and barring running out of steam with 10 to go you still had more than enough threat to worry us.

Would like to have seen the Gilly hit on Mathers more clearly in real time, the slow mo can be misleading.

I'm sure nothing will (or, should) come of the hit on Grix, there are similar tackles every week and I agree that the impact was chest / ball initially. Obviously, the resultant injury makes the incident appear worse, and Grix was unlucky in that respect.

Fantastic game, though, and it would grace a CC Final.
