Yeah he works for several NRL clubs as a sort of skills coach for their halfbacks.
Reckon we should try and bring him over to work with Myler in pre season.

| I don't think we need much. The backrower thing, I wouldn't mind one. On the other hand I wouldn't mind Mitchell, Blythe or McCarthy building on their promise, it's getting that mix of youth & experience right I guess. I quite like that Adamson at Salford if we were looking to get one, I know Tickle is mooted on here.
Burgess would be good, a change of scenery for him, get his career going in the right direction again. Would involve a fee of course. I think I'd want him to play prop though, prefer him there to 13.
Centres a funny one, not many kicking around really, Shenton apart. That David Howell is a good one but he recently signed an extension. Maybe we'll have to go with Grix, Bridge & King, Vinne Anderson & Rhys Evans/Alex Hurst as 4th/5th choice. Evans is quite clearly more than a bit special.

| has bridge filled the void in the centres which we were looking to fill after gleesons departure?
we will still look to find another centre but i doubt he would be british,as far as backrowers go it would be silly to bring any in as we have a good bunch of youngsters now ready to step up a level.

I think he has to be honest. I think he can feel more than a tad sorry for himself that he's not been able to get any sort of run of games there recently due to him having to plug holes elsewhere in the side, and with that, whilst he isn't obviously as comfortable in the halves, I think he's done okay in the las tcouple of games.
I saw enough in him in those few games he has had at centre, in particular the CC Quarter Final to suggest to me that there's no panic to go out there and buy a right centre. If there was someone out there, on the right money, to add competition for places, fine, but I wouldn't go offering daft money for one.

| i think he now has made a centre slot his home, with the signings we'll make he can concentrate solely on this position which in effect makes him like a new signing, great step and superb hands and he looks much happier when he's there.

That's the thing with him for me.
Strong with the ball, has a real strong carry. As his winger you get nothing really, and defensively his sort of movement & mobility is non existant. So when you actually sit back, grab your mug of Horlicks, and think about the fella, once you put the brawn and robust ball carry that he has to one side, your not left with much really.

I think I am in the minority here, but the jury is still out for me on Bridge. He has got it in attack, in the main, although I feel there is improvement in his decision making, especially when letting the ball go early.
Defensively, his positioning seems a touch off, he always seems to let his opposition go outside him and take him side on, which is risky, but it appears to be his technique.
This may come across as negative, but to be honest any halfwit can see Bridge has all the attributes to be a very good centre and in Smith we have a coach who will tinker with the minute elements of his game to bring it all together.

As I said, it is a risky approach, up against a speedy/stepping centre I would be worried. A straight runner would not be an issue, as they don't look to get on the outside shoulder.

Hmmm. Good job there aren't many in SL then really. I was on holiday, did Shenton get much joy out of him out of interest ? I'm trying to rack my brains, Carmont perhaps could cause him a problem. Most of the folk he'll face will be the likes of Baile, Webster, Gilmour, Nero, Yeaman. Folk of that ilk.
