| Nice to keep hold of Hicks. Anderson could become a very decent player. My biggest concern is with Paul Wood, great player but with real injury concerns.

Its only a one year deal for Woody though, and he's definately done enough to earn that at least. Hopefully he'll stay relatively injury free this year and next, and start to push for a GB spot again.
I reckon we'll see a major improvement in Louis Anderson, and Hicks also warrants another season at the club while we wait for the likes of Penny and Williams to mature.
Great business all round I feel, next year's squad is beginning to take shape.

| I`m not sure where i stand on these new deals, Chris Hicks is a solid finisher and if he`s allowed to stay on the wing which looks likely with the arrival of Richie Mathers then a 1 year deal is fair enough to reward his overall solid performances for the club, i would like to see us sign a goal kicker though as he isn`t the most consistent of which it isn`t his fault really as he was thrown into that situation due to the poor form of Lee Briers with the boot at the time.
Paul Wood is a risk due to the extent of his injuries over the years, its not good for overall squad cohesian in having too many of this type of player on your books and we have our fair share of injury prone players, on effort he gives 100% but i`m not sure his defence is the best and you just feel how long will it be before his shoulder goes again. I wish him well and touch Wood he can put his injuries behind him.
Louis Anderson, personally i wouldn`t have given him a new deal based on his overall performances since his arrival but if Tony Smith can bring out the best of him then he`s a far better judge than i am, i just hope we don`t keep Vinnie for the wrong reasons now.

| I'm not sure what I feel about this news to be honest. Take Paul Wood out of it as I think he deserves another two years. He's looking like he's putting his injury jinx behind him now, like Grix appears to be, and Johnson, and Bridge, so it all bodes well really. There's not too many good props knocking about, so when you have one, and he wants to stay, keep him.
The other two, I'm on the fence really. I'd quite like to have seen both go really. I know there's still big potential in Louis Anderson and somebody may have got that out of him had we got rid, but I'd rather have seen us go out and get something different, that ball playing back rower that we don't have. With Hicks, he's been steady, but I don't think we'd miss him really, I'd have liked us to have used the quota spot elsewhere, if we wanted a winger desperately, get an English one, or use the number of academy prospects that we have that we seem to be backfilling.
Having said the above, a bit of me thinks that continuity seems the key in SL, Saints & Leeds don't do 10 in 10 out year on year, it's one or two max, so I can see the logic, you try to keep this group together, this group will be getting to grips with Smiths structures, ethics, ways etc, you have to be building towards something, to pretty much decimate the squad at season end would take you back to square one, as oppose to bringing in a few new faces who add strength, and they come into an enviornment that is solid, has continuity & they bed in easier because of this.

It was a "FACT" that where Louis ended up was dependant upon his brother. Can you clarify exactly what this meant?

It is a bit mad that your bezzie mate didn't tell you that he'd re-signed. I thought he'd have hugged you, and said "You've got me for two more years Bruv."
Or similar.

I'd like to see LA as a replacement for Rah at prop. I think we've got sufficient backrowers already established/coming through.

| Bit dissapointed with the renwal of angry andersons contract. Now if somebody could be labelled a penalty machine this fella could (Await statistics to prove me wrong). Its ok having a bit of fight inside but some of it is needless. He had the penalty in the bag against York but lost his head, in big games that could cost us. Players like Gilmour will play on this all game and provoke him into a reaction.
I have a self confessed downer on him at the moment, He is not an eighty minute back rower (Either sin binned or spelled) and towards the back end of a game can look very tired in defence (See the build up to and including Salfords last try)
I trust Tony Smiths judgement though so I am prepared to accept that he is worth another year.
Just out of interest does anybody know how many times he has had a yellow card in a Warrington shirt, It is probably a lot less than I think. I would go for 5.

it's probably only two or three, but i know what you mean, he has that impression to him, what you will see though is his name does crop up a lot on the rlf disciplinary page a lot, despite not being charged, iirc both anderson were named a lot last year.

In SL games only, Louis has been binned twice this year and none last year (according to superleague.com).
He has given 16 penalties in 32 games, despite being one of the players most involved due to his high tackle count.

| all three players deserve the extra contracts landerson gets a rough time from alot fans some of it undeserved one element of his game which needs improving is the laying the ball off in tackle
hicks a steady player focused keeps his nose clean and gets on with job i think we need that sort of characther around the club
woods can the one of best props in sl simply as that

I was worried by "Inside Info" from Wolfette that Hicks was heading to Union.

| Not a big fan of the Andersons, they add little.
Wood deserves a contract, and Hicks is a solid part of our team that doesn't need to change.

| hhmmm, im not totally sure that L Anderson and Hicks are good deals myself, but that's probably why Im sat at my PC all day, and not a Tony Smith.
I don't know why we [iall [/ihave this "In Smith We Believe" attitude, but even I do myself, it's a little strange..

| Im more than happy with Smiths decisions so far and trust his judgement 100%.
He comes across as someone you can rely on, someone who wont let you down. Although maybe the RFL have differing views.
Its next year that Smith will be judged, thats when the team will be something like his own.

I think we [ihave[/i to believe really. He's perfectly qualified and has proven track record. If he fails (which I hope to god he doesnt) then things really will be bleak for us.

I think it is more tangible than belief. We have a man in charge who has proven success at reigniting a dromant club, although I appreciate Leeds had not been in as big a slumber as ourselves.
