| Give me a break!
We were bizz today. And?
I didn't see Doug Hoyle missing a tackle or Mr Moran dropping a simple pass. I watched a team of "proffessionals" way off the pace with no excuses. It was a terrible game from both teams as far as skill factor was concerned. Basically not up to standard.
Maybe it'll be better on Monday against a better team, maybe not. Maybe it wont get much better all season. At the end of the day we're NOT a championship winning team so what's with all the blaming and high expectations?
Tony Smith will do a better job with our club than anyone has over the last decade or so. The board gave him the job and have put their trust in him. From what I can gather, so have we.
We got beat at Salford. OOH EER. Not for the first time eh? But it's hardly a crisis.
Maybe we missed Briers today, lots of posts couldn't wait for the Bridge/Monahan partnership, maybe we missed Glees today, or Riley...Penny...Reardon.???
Maybe Mr Cullen had a quiet word with Mr Moran and suggested that Mr Lowes should carry the 1st bottle of water on the pitch for Mr Carvell and he said NO which is whay we didn't play so well??? Exactly.
WE NEED TIME TO EVOLVE AS A NEW TEAM UNDER TONY SMITH
"Sack the board"? You're an idiot..you're fired

| The board are partly to blame for the performance today, the board are partly to blame for the drop in attendances and here is why
The board made decisions that had a negetive effect on Cullens ability to have complete control of the playing squad. He lost control of the dressing room because of 1 or possibly a number of decisions that the board made.
That same board who once Paul Cullen had gone promissed a wold class coach but then failed to sign him and then panicked and put Jimmy Lowes in charge because he won a few games a coach remember who Salford that beat us today said wasn't upto coaching them.
That same board then allowed their new coach to bring in a fitness conditioner who has similar qualifications in conditioning a team as most of us.
The players are not fit enough for Superleague and are now competing after a preseason put together by a coach that Salford did not want and we are reaping the benefits of that.
Crowds are dwindling partly because of the times we are in but also because of the fare that is being served up on match days, people pay to be entertained by the team that they support but when playing badly, they can spend that cash on a day out that they will find more enjoyable.
So ultimatley the board are as culpable as the players and the coaching staff in my oppinion. I don't think they should be sacked but they need to learn from the mistakes that they have made and make sure they don't happen again otherwise people may be calling for heads.
What is needed now is for the ship to be steadied under the leadership of Tony Smith and we should all be ploughing forward together in search of the ultimate goal which is of course a trophy but bigger attendances from the fans and more pride and passion on show from the players who have a desire to play for our club.

| Quote ="The Angry Pirate"To be fair, I think people are finally sussing out that a certain Mr Cullen was given far too much time in which to WRECK THE CLUB, by bringing in numerous terrible signings, which were compounded by even more terrible contract renewals, even when it was obvious those players were average at best....(Clarke, Reardon...
)
A more knowledgeable board may have realised a lot sooner, that Cullen should have been shipped out to Sky a long time before he eventually was.'" "Wreck the club" maybe a bit of an exageration there, Clark and Reardon are both internationals as selected by another coach not PC plus we have actually got worse since PC left FACT!

Agreed. I can't help but feel that this season could put the club back ten years. The point about entertainment is right; at least at times under Cullen we played some good rugby. Now we still lose and are dreadfully boring.
We need to get back to the old days of a hard working and aggressive Warrington team that is fully committed.
I used to be as passionate as anybody about the club but I really find it hard to be interested any more.

| I don't know why people are so downhearted about this, ok we should be beating teams like Salford but the club are going through a re-building process.
People who came here for the money and an easy ride were allowed to get away with it under Cullen and Lowes, now that TS has taken over those players are no longer allowed an easy ride and the money is going to be taken away from them also.
TS is slowly but surely getting rid of the waste, Gleeson, Reardon with Monaghan and King allowed to talk to other clubs, you can be rest assured that more men will be gone between now and the the start of next year.
TS will start to bring in quality hard working players who he feels he can work with and are not money motivated, he may also bring in new coach's but this will take a while to sort out (at least a year) so until that time comes we will lose silly games here and there but you have to take the rough with the smooth, there's now relegation either so let's just right this season off and support the the club in what there doing.
What happens this year we will be better for it next year.

'"
Before we got Tony Smith in I thought the same as you, but with hindsight what happened makes sense. The board wanted Tony Smith, but the RFL wouldn't let Smith split duties between club and country before the World Cup as it was their big priority. So they decided that holding fire and getting Smith in this season was better than going for a lesser calibre coach straight away. They couldn't reveal this in public of course so had to give 'full backing' to James Lowes.
Now the board have got a top coach in so its a good result.
The criticism I have at the board is that they renewed Cullen's contract giving him another chance, past the time it was obvious he wasn't going to achieve any more than he already had. Same with some of the players who got contract renewals for mediocre performances.
On James Lowes, bringing him in was seen as a good move by most of our fans, remember when everyone said Cullen was a good coach but needed some help, instead of having the likes of Derbyshire and Chambers who had never won anything as players, we needed someone with experience of winning trophies like Forshaw or Lowes on the coaching staff.

In light of the recent departures I think it should be questioned how much control Cullen actually had, how much the board would let him achieve. If he caused a rift by demanding that these players be dealt with, the board refused as they are 'names' and the players responded by refusing to perform, how much silverware is he going to win under that situation?

Probably since both made it clear they want away from Wire ASAP....
Smith made it clear through his Gleeson departure statement, that wantaways will not have their paths blocked.
Expect the pair to see out the season, but be prepared for announcements regarding a return to OZ for them both in the near future.

| Why should Ts bring in hard working players when i bet you if he dropped some of the big names King Monas Etc Etc and played some of the young guys whom will give you that extra mile it might just be the wake up call for some of the old heads
With the no relegation than blood the youngster for next season then bring in a couple of players who have played super league before
i would be happy watching a team of youngsters who give it blood sweat and tears for the clause than a bunch of money grabbin slackers who only care about th £££££££££££££££

| Like I said on the initial post.
Put Murphy in charge and the Aussie tourists of 82 in a Wire shirt and we'd be no better off.
