both monas and king have both got playing history to prove they are both good players, they just dont seem to have that self motivation bit of steel to become winners, they allow themselves to be dragged in to the team attitude and go through the motions.when it should be the other way round.shame really dont have the answers but do know self motivated winners dont need motivating they provide it.

so we should be on the look out for a quality halfback to replace him,
6 & 7 is the engine room of any rugby league team

Istill think is experiance will win us more games than it losses us,this season,but after that time to put him down i think....

I remember when Langer came over here he came as a package with Gee. Gee's job was to protect Langer and from what I read into that was not to protect him in scuffles but to stop people from running at him and targeting him as the smaller, weaker player.
Briers has had a few seasons of Gleeson and Westwood helping him on the right who are both strong in the tackle affording him a bit of protection.
I dont think Monaghan has had this luxury in that he defends 3 in rather than Briers who defends 2 in. The centres and second rowers he has worked with have what I would call "defended for themselves" rather than for the system.
Berrigan took advantage of monaghans tackling style late in the game back in Feb 2008 and other teams have isolated him ever since. He makes what my school teacher would call a "text book tackle" but in the modern game is as good as a clean break as you know that often he is left on the floor with numbers missing at marker and the defensive line all over the place.

I dont blame monaghan as there are other halfbacks in the league that would end up in a similar situation. All I ask is that the players around him aim up and dont allow that situation to develop.

From SEB's stats he made 41 tackles against the dragons. - That must be a record for a halfback and no wonder he was quiet when we had the ball.
(the tackle stats do look high but even if they were 25% out he still made over 30 tackles)

Can't help but think that if Briers does go and we still have Monas it'll be interesting to see if he feels it's "his team" to lead around the field then, and how he'd fare. Morley stands in Briers' shadow still, and I don't think we'll see true captain material from Moz until that shadow goes. Seems currently all the shot calling is done by Briers, and if his face doesn't fit it could be Monas' last chance at making a hit of his Warrington career. All pie in the sky stuff for the time being though.

I will start off by saying I don't really rate Monaghan in defense or attack.

But just before half time we almost got in the match as Wakefield were proving there defense was just as poor as our. Monaghan was feeding L. Anderson and co to bash there way through the line. When the ball went the other side of the pitch and Briers tried some flair which ended up above Riley's head and in Halley's hands

This is my inkling also. It could just be the last bits of my wishful thinking and optimism though!

oh hang on he never was and never will be a brilliant scrum half.....
