Hodgson over Tomkins? Oh dear.'"
I'd put Hodgson over Tomkins. As well as contributing to the attack a fullback is the last line of defense and whist Tomkins is brilliant with ball in hand he still has a lot to learn defensively. Add to that his temperament and good as Tomkins is Hodgson just edges it for me.

I know its team of the season, thats why Graham should be there ahead of Wood. Considering that 10 of the 17 players are from Wire kind of shows that this specific poster thinks that Wire are world beaters after one season at the top.

???- i seriously cannot decide between Michael Monaghan or James Roby. IMO they are the best two players in SL but they play in the same position. I really like MMonaghan but also Roby is my favourite non-Wire.
I also went for King and Atkins even though they play on the other side as they deserve to be in the team over any W/C from the right in SL.

Its looking likely that he's going to win the Man of Steel so I'd be very suprised if he wasn't selected in the dream team.

Almost certainly will be in the dream team, would be a huge shock if he wasn't. Just stating my opinion as regards what I want from a fullback, and on this seasons performances I would rather lose the attacking flair that Tomkins brings in favour of the security that Hodgson would add. (and yes I appreciate that Hodgson had a nightmare of a game in the cup, but Tomkins hardly covered himself in glory on Sunday either starting from the kickoff)

If Ginger Pubes played as well as he has Whinged this season he may have got in so IMO he's been nowhere near his best but that goes for the whole Saints team bar Roby !

I'm not arguing that graham should probably be ahead of wood... I'm just pointing out that your 'one season at the top' remark is a bit silly... seeing as the team is picked on this season... and as you said.. we are top.
of course there will be warrington fans that pick loads of warrington players... some are doing it on a wind up to get bites.
It's really not that difficult to see.

1) James Roby has made 5000metres this year ( yes 5KM ) this is a phenomenal achievement and I think I am right in saying that NO player has ever achieved this many meters in the whole history of Super League.
To give you an idea of how good 5km is, At Warrington you would have to add all of Ben Westwood metres and all Michael Monaghan’s combined and you still be some way short.
2) Add to this that he is currently the top tackler in the league with over 1000 tackles as well, and he is in the top position on many other stats also.
To put it in prospectus for the primrose and yellow tinted glasses, At Warrington you would have to add all the tackles of Michael Monaghan (Warrington’s top tackler) plus add all the tackles of Lee Briers and Matt King and you would still be behind on the tackle count. It’s a quite remarkable and makes people look silly coming out with statements like that.
If James Roby or Jammer played for Wolves, they both be classed as the best players in the world

| All good stuff, shows how crap you are though that Roby has to make all those tackles. I don't think we've made 1000 tackles all season, we always have the ball see, scoring points.

Think it shows a fair point, I have actually compared him to some of your best players, I could of made him look even better against your weaker players, The idea of Roby not being one of the 1st name's in the 2011 dream team is quite ridiculous.

Not really, you could put it another way - how many games has Roby won you against the top sides? Certainly none against Wigan or Warrington for sure.
I like Roby a lot, who doesn't, but I notice that a vast amount of his work is one-out work, single plays, scoots etc, call it what you will. He isn't great at bringing his forwards onto the ball or creating, but he's masterful at what he does which is being robust, all action, never taking a backward step, etc etc.
For me, I'd take the guile of Monas (just). I do think Roby needs to improve in some areas though, his distribution at times for me isn't great, but it's pretty difficult to criticise a bloke who's getting through a truckload of work every week.

| Roby is a workhorse but doesn't have much of a rugby brain.... stats don't show leading your forwards around the pitch, choosing the right pass etc etc
Roby probably has better stats than C.Smith, but Smith is a far better player.
Stats are for dorks.

Roby has done more try assists than Monas, so can't agree there and he has been our MOM the most this year of our lads. So he has played a big part for our team.
I am not criticising Monas, he a class act but the hard fact is he is not capable of gaining you 5000 metres or doing 1000 plus tackles. Roby has been tremendous in attack and defence and is the stand out number 9 this year. He will without doubt be the number 9 in the dream team and very much deserved.
