He wasnt the only one either, ssed a lot of people of yesterday them stewards surely your club cant allow this.'"
I wasn't at the game yesterday but it doesn't surprise me what you say about the stewards. I've seen many incidents over the past few years where they have been unreasonable, poorly trained and unable to cope with different incidients/scenarios.
It may please you to hear that a couple of them went in heavy handed into a group of youngish Manchester United supporters when Liverpool reserves played at our place and got more than they bargained for.

Why? Because all of your fans are double hard barstewards who can handle themselves if things get nawty? Grow up mate. I don't think the issue yesterday was the stewarding per se, I think it was the fact that the West Stand should have been opened. Then, when a load turned up at kick off, there would have been no issue with a full stand (quite the opposite).
Anyway, apart from the tool pipe near me who continually sang to Matt King 'are you a black man in disguise' I thought the Rovers fans were a good bunch on the whole and I enjoyed watching their team play.
71 - RL supporter has a go at stewards for thinking they are '10 men' then, in the next breath, says that if said '10 men' stewards DID kick off implies that they would get battered.....is that irony?

*cringe* I bet you fans are 'propa nawty' right?
I disagree with your assessment I think they dealt with the situations (caused by ed up Fetherstone fans) well. If you are going to turn up late don't expect to get a spot exactly where you want one - they can't allow people to stand on the concourse due to health and safety reasons and that is why they were moved from there. Those fans that didn't stop complaining should have been thrown out if they weren't going to comply with the ground regulations.

Totally agree. They were vexed up ("having drank the town dry from 12 o'clock"icon_wink.gif, then arrived late, then were a bit suprised to see a busy stadia and got confused, frustrated and angry.
The "best in breed" bloke was jabbing fingers at the stewards and mouthing obscenities. He should have been ejected for sure.

| ok, I know Rovers. He wouldn't want me to speak for him anyway, so I won't!!
So leaving his diatribe aside for a mo! I'm 49 - a long time since I was a young un predisposed to shouting daftness and I've never been one for getting involved in aggro. Who needs it?? I'm a nurse and again not prone to agression and conflict. I spend a good deal of my working life involved with conflict resolution!!
I arrived at noon, had 3 pints, (that's not far off my limit these days), then along with a mate I walked across to the ground having good craic with the wire lads outside the ground before entering the stadium at 3.45. SO far so good.
Once in the ground it was mayhem. The steward appeared to be blocking off some stairs to some fans whilst others were virtually shoving us up the ajacent stairs!!! The communication between the stewards/management was confusing as conflicting messages were given to different stewards.
And whilst most stewards were ok and tried to help, there were a couple who did take the rise. The one rovers so eloquently refers to was indeed an arrogant @rse, who represents your club. I found his tone and manner ill mannered and unnecessary and likely to cause confrontation. Is this right?? Of course there is always the "beer" scapegoat. i.e. "Opposition fans must have been p!ssed so it's their fault"! True, some were and maybe it's right to question the behaviour of those fans.
However, when the STewards who are representitives of your club behave in a manner which I don't expect from a club of Warrington's history, stature and position in the game, then that too is worthy of comment.
Sour grapes??? Nah. I've seen Fev lose to far worse opposition that Wire in my time, and will do again!! If I wanted glory, I wouldn't be a rover. I had proper good craic yesterday and enjoyed a belting day out. But seriously those stewards - one or two of them were very poor. Their management too leaves a lot to be desired.

| I stand in the South Stand every game I am not young, far from it but up until this year I have enjoyed the banter. This year it has changed, different people, different standards, to many stewards making me feel intimidated it's as if they an willing something to kick off. Maybe it's time for me to retire to the other stands. I must think that it was short sighted to leave the West Stand closed.

It's pot calling the kettle black. Which is not irony, but not sure if there is a word for that?
Irony is where you say something but mean the opposite. i.e. it's raining outside and you say "Nice weather today isn't it".

Schadenfreude. Though to be a touch specific, it is gaining pleasure from others misfortune.

| The stewarding yesterday was very poor. There was a group of Fev fans allowed to almost wander up to Ben Westwood when he was taking the first conversion. There was another group being allowed to walk up and down in front of the stand. The West Stand should have been left open for visiting fans. I walked up to the ground from Bridge Foot at about 2.15pm and there were a lot of very drunk Fev fans wandering around the town centre pubs. I then went into the Red Lion for a couple of jars and found it full of some very verbally aggressive Fev fans.
Opening the West Stand would have meant that all the Featherstone fans could be together and would have prevented the confrontation they had with the stewards.

i also went in the red lion for a drink before the game with my wife, but when we got to the bar there were 4 blokes stood just in front of the bar and one man decided to pull his togger out off his trousers and wave it around. and they wonder why the stewards stand there staring at them in the match.
if someone can do that in a full pub, then they need watching in the ground were there are a lot more children around.
