It's just a lazy insult when someone says something you don't agree with.

There's no right or wrong on either side of the debate, just opinions at a given time. Like him or not, believe in him, or not, as someone has already posted we'd all like DP to succeed. For me, he has made some decisions that I've not agreed with, and some of the players brought in haven't worked, leading to the prospect of relegation. I'm all for giving DP a fair amount of time, but not at the expense of the massive damage that relegation would do to the club. Sundays result and performance is a good step in the right direction, against an understrength and poor opposition, and gives us a little breathing space. We must build on that and be up for what lies ahead.

Well I’m now considering cancelling that holiday to the Bahamas on the 24th September. (Fickle, moi?)

Ps isn’t the point about supporters that they hold opinions that have no consequences and can change them like I change my underwear (so at least once a month). I think it is healthy to have differing opinions reflected on here, it hopefully makes people think about their stand point even if they don’t change it. I was very late to the Cullen and Smith out parties but an early adopter of the Price out pitchforking so my personal record is questionable.

There's certainly no right and wrong as it's a matter of opinion in a debate. Essentially, if you have an opinion on something speculative, then there really is no right or wrong.

But, given the performance on Sunday, do you think some people were right or wrong to call for his head after just half a season? That's the right or wrong bit, not whether someone's opinion is right or wrong.

It's all a game and nobody takes anything that seriously. It's a provincial town sports forum after all. It's the journey not the destination. Would be boring if we won everything.

Luckily we can express opinions freely on here and no-one gets too upset if those opinions differ from their own (apart from Smiffy.

It has been boring the last few years so if we won everything I'm happy to accept boredom as the tradeoff. I'd like to enact payback on Wiganers for what I suffered through in my youth, by making them watch a procession of Wire teams winning the title every year to the soundtrack of "Simply the Best".

l Everyone has their own oppinions but i think Powell is the man to turn us around and said from the beginning he gets a free pass this year from me. Now i didn't expect this dramatic drop in form but like many have said on here, change takes time. I hate the whole "if it immediately isn't successful get rid" Mentality. If at this stage next year we are in the same boat then my mind will change about Powell but he has my full backing still and trust in what his plan is.

This season is a refreshing change to the last 3. I mean it's the same in some ways that we won't win SL but now there is a feeling that things are changing.

it has always been about giving a man a chance to overhaul and rebuild a club, without shouting on a message board for his head.

tbh, i think my main gripe with all this.... is that some of the people in this thread, posting some constant negative stuff, are probably older heads, that have been around the block... and should probably know better.

it starts with a few people.... then it gathers pace.... it ends up with a mini witch hunt, where people keep joining in after every defeat... said people then have an opinion, which can often be hard to shift.

ive stayed out of this for ages, as its been hard to read... but hats off to Gazwire for trying his best to inject some positivity and realism into the posts on here... well done sir

Let's try to understand this argument, those posters on here who have been and are concerned with the performance of the team, lack of direction and team spirit on the pitch which are all the responsibility of the new coaching team have posted their disappointment and in some cases, including me, have asked for the coach to be moved on. Performances have been poor, little or no improvement except for a win against a weakened Catalan team last weekend. This badly affects the club, the income and importantly those fans who have bought season tickets and not forgetting sponsorship next season. Because we care about the club and make our views known on this fans forum we are classed as negative. We want the best for the club, just as those who believe Powell and his coaching team will turn us into Champions. Its just that we prefer different approaches. That's what a forum is for is it not?
To add insult to injury those who are not impressed you state they are :- probably older heads that have been around the block (whatever that means?) ....and should probably know better.

Perhaps your next suggestion will be a separate forum for us old dodderers - Grey Wolf ? - so members of the current boys club don't need to read a different view point. Produce your bus pass and your in?

You applaud Gazwire, no problem there, we have disagreed but I accept he is free to post his unfailing loyalty to Powell. Its a forum!

Opinions on Powell sit across a spectrum. This thread is a good place to put forward those opinions for a balanced argument, but for the first time in a while on this forum, it's turned to some petty in-fighting and name calling. At the end of the day we're all on the same side and want the club to succeed. I'm in the Powell-rebuild camp, even though I'm certain he's made a few little mistakes along the way. I'm not naive and I'm not 100% sure we'll be better off with him than anyone else, but I'm surprisingly positive about what lies ahead. He's got a record of improving clubs and players, he's somewhat radically changing how things are done behind the scenes, and he coaches exciting rugby.

I've no idea why, but it feels like it will come good. Or maybe it's just the extreme heat or something. Either way, if anyone feels like an angry rant against a fellow poster, take time out and go pull the legs off a Widnes fan (for those forum members under 40 - Widnes were a RL team from Liverpool who had a couple of good years in the 80s).

Given how bad the results have been I'm not sure why people are surprised that there is a "Powell out" campaign on here. There was a "Price out" campaign through most of 2019 and we won the Challenge Cup in the middle of it!

I'm definitely in the camp of Powell is the right coach and we just need to roll with it now and deal with the turbulence. I think he will reshape the club in a better form when he's done.

At what age is it deemed acceptable to you for members to post negative stuff on here?

under 25... i hear silly comments at the game about getting rid of a coach 4 months into a season... but they are usually coming from kids... i dont think ive ever heard them from a properly grown up adult.

i kind of figured that was the demographic for the 'GET HIM OUT' brigade.

also... its not 'negative stuff' im against.... i have posted loads of negative stuff over the years... what im on about is people with a narrative, trying to get rid of a coach, 4 months in by stirring up a message board.... im all for a witch hunt after 12 months... but cmon.
