With a nod to the Kevin Penny thread, I think you'd have to say Chris Riley's Wire career is over. I never participated in the slaughter of him when he was here, because I felt Atkins didn't always help him out and his try scoring record was good, but you have to say he looks average.

Nice to not have phil clarke commentating on this game. Child having an absolute stinker though. All this has come about because of his decisions towards the end of the first half.

Turned it off. Catalans lost the plot but prior to that Child was penalising them heavily for some rough stuff, then it just degenerated into uncontrolled violence, Wigan players surrounding and influencing a weak ref at every opportunity and the yellow cards being brandished.

Not a great advert for the game.

To be fair to Child he did everything he could short of abandoning the game yet it fell on deaf ears.

There's not a mother out there who after watching that would want to get on the phone and arrange for her son to join the local RL club.

Wigan just battered Cats up the middle. That's where the game was won and lost.

However, the penalty given for the ball being stripped from Seargenson(sp?) wasn't a strip, he tried to offload it
The penalty given on Burgess wasn't a penalty, nowt up with it
Both of those lead to a warning and neither should have been a penalty.

The way the commentary was going on you'd think they were putting horrific tackles in over and over.

Wigan overreacted to the "shoulder tackle" Elema put on Crosby (he hit the ball with his upper arm)
Then Pettybourne put two shoulder tackles in and nobody batted an eyelid in commentary.

I thought both teams were poor, Catalans being especially poor. The game was no rougher or had no more dangeous play than five or six NRL games every week. Super League has gone soft. The ing shoulder charge rule is ridiculous! the way players are reacting to nothing incidents is ridiculous!

Another reason why I love Rugby League - when interviewed, Luke Dorn dismissed the incident as something that just happens, one of those things in the heat of the battle, nothing to see here.

If only certain club owners and their repeat-offending thuggish employees had as much dignity.

As for the head butt itself, Sinfield lost it big style. His face was contorted in anger, he was effing and jeffing like a Glaswegian welder perfoming gangsta rap and he threw the head in. End of. If he's the gentlemen he has been portrayed as he'll come out with an apology and take the punishment with grace.
