Westwood did the same thing against Leeds and it worked - Leeds were thrown off their game, lost a player, rattled and we took advantage.

My problem is that a). it's cowardly and b). It was stupid on both occasions.

We need more aggression in our play but I'd rather see Cooper, Hill, Clark etc. hurting players legally in the tackle, taking the ball in with venom and targetting defensively weak players.

Westwood I expected it of, big on heart, low on IQ.

Hill I didn't, and he went down in my estimation. He made a tough assignment impossible.

There will be two teams devoid of confidence going against each other on Saturday and to predict how it will go is impossible IMO. It's a total 50/50 game. Who would have thought we'd be in this position only 8 months after playing each other in the Grand Final?!!

Difference is you have a good few players back for this game that will give confidence to the others and we've got err Brown back

I would suggest that this act was done purposely to avoid the next game and get out of the limelight. This CHilly is not the one we know and I for one believe that he is treading water this season. I know this is a controversial statement but its my view. Many of the incidents this season show me that the team as a whole are protesting in there own ways at something.

We should be asking what is happening at board level, the players will turn it around and avoid the MPG given the chance by the board, but the board have to give them the chance!!

You'd think if the players had any concerns, they could go to Karl, after all, as player welfare officer, he was there run the players to the IKEA when they had no cutlery after getting to their house for first time, or ensuring they had the right flavour of Gatorade. Other drinks are available.

Is it time to put in one of our props from the reserves or under 21, got nothing to loose and hopefully they will be hungry enough to want to stake a claim for a contract.

50/50 game? Wigan would've battered us without the return of their stars.....with Bateman, Gelling et al returning it'll be carnage. I'm unable to even view the game on TV and for the first time in 40 years I'm actually glad I'll completely miss a game.

For clarity the tough assignment I was referring to was Cas away, specifically losing our best forward early on in the piece.

However, given Wigan expect to have some of their walking wounded back I don't expect this weekend will be much fun either.

13 penalties (26th most out of all SL players, 2nd for us)

Jack Hughes has given away 16 (13th most in SL, 1st for us)

Brown is on 10 (3rd for us)

Most penalties in the league is Chris Houston with 21.

We are 10th in the league for penalties. Don't give away as many if teams run straight through us.

It is a contact sport so you are bound to attract penalties. The disappointing thing for me is the nature of the offences for those penalties, lying on and cheap shots which could be down to fatigue/fitness and frustration?

Same at Wigan, it seems like time after time we get done for a hand on the ball or my personal bugbear, holding on to a foot and trying to spin the tackled player round.
It's such an obvious penalty and impossible for the ref to miss

There's a huge amount of risk (and some desperation) in us bringing those lads back though. There's no way the likes of Tomkins and Bateman will be match fit and I doubt Gelling will be either.

We've been losing cos were playing e, that's a fact. But does anyone else think we've been getting reffed differently since we've been crap?

Must admit, especially during the salford game down here it crossed my mind a lot, especially since teams that are regularly at the bottom of the table say this happens to them.

Definitely feel as though we're not getting the rub of the green lately. I suppose it's a case of 'never give a sucker an even break'

It's the timing and often the position in which he gives a penalty away this was on the last tackle when we were about to get the ball back he has given penaltys away on our own line needleslwy and on opposition line early in the tackle count it's these that are making his penaltys stand out !!

He has not performed to his usual high standards I think the leadership roll he could do without ! Not meant as a criticism just don't get the feeling it's one of his strong points unburden him from that responsibility and let him focus on what he does best!! I also think that given how he has consistantly played in the past that we can give him a pass this season and feel confidant he will do everything within his power to get back on form.

That's weird as Chris Hill tends to stick in my mind for giving penalties away. Maybe it's where on the field he does it, I've noticed a couple of hands-on-the-ball right in front of our sticks. Or maybe I just watch Chris Hill as our captain a bit more intensely than the others.
