| Quote ="sally cinnamon"I think it comes across much better if you treat fans as being intelligent and are realistic about the situation. You can still be positive.
Eg the CEO could give an interview to the Warrington Guardian that went something like:
"We would have liked to bring in some more firepower up front. Unfortunately the players we were targeting there didn't come off, and this can happen, so we'll go with what we have got. Last year felt like a disappointment to everyone despite winning the Challenge Cup, but the wins in big cup games showed the potential that this group of players has.
"Gareth Widdop should bring a whole new dimension to the way we attack and we're spending this off season working hard to make ourselves less predictable and find extra ways to break defences. Last year, I think teams were able to shut us down too easily and if they were able to keep Blake under wraps we didn't have enough answers. We need to find more ways to challenge teams this time around.
"The goal for the season will be to maximise the potential of the players we have on the squad and be a team that the supporters can identify with. That involves playing a positive style of rugby and making the supporters feel that the players have put everything in to the game, whether we have won or lost.
"We might not start the season as favourites but we have enough talent in the squad to be one of the group of teams who is capable of being in the last 4 of both major competitions. We showed last year that we could win big knock out games, and that means we can win one or both of the major competitions this year. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can do".'"
Hand on heart you don’t think that a section of the fans on here wouldn’t see that as defeatist, 2nd best mentality? I can just hear the response now “ small time club, you would never hear Saints/Wigan/Leeds say that. Defeated before the season starts etc”
You just can’t please everyone.

Had to google him, but as I’m not a follower of NRL that isn’t surprising.

| If we are currently working on a permit, looking at an affordable prop in the NRL, Tetevano has ruled himself out it & Prior looks nailed on to be going Leeds, given the whispers and mentions on here/rumours I’ve heard looks like it may be Sam Lisone after all.

| Lisone ay? He's a big lad that's for sure, 184cm and 110kg (6ft and 17st in old money). Would've preferred someone with a bit more reputation but he's a young lad and will be keen to make a name for himself I'd imagine.

Much better to treat the fans in this way than assume they are all imbeciles. In truth I would rather the club prove their intent through actions rather than just spout on about it.

That's what I thought looking at the stats, it doesn't jump out at you does it?
Lets hope a change in competition does him some good.

| Well if we have signed him i'll throw my full support behind him. I'm not expecting a lot from him so if he does come over to impress then happy days. He could be exactly what we need so fingers crossed. Still think another prop in the mix would be good though, even just as a squad filler

Yes of course he will have our support. Just as we supported Akauola and Tasi.

The article that BWW attached to his message, does state that Gold Coast Titans could part of his salary, for the duration of his contract with them.
Hence the impact on the salary cap for any UK club that signed him would be reduced.

They'd have to be paying a lot of his salary, supposed to be on around £320k per year at the Gold Coast. I can't see a SL club willing to pay him marquee money, so you'd think Gold Coast would need to pay at least half of his salary for a SL club to be interested?

Could we really afford him? Even with Titans playing a portion of his wages. It’s more than likely that he will end up at Catalans/Toronto.
By all means, I would be very happy indeed if we found some way of pulling it off.
