| and you cant really blame the guy, when he knows a better gig in the NRL is around the corner.
Hard to get someone from another country, with those kind of options, to do the big minutes/effort on a regular basis.

| Well if we don't get rid of BMM i think he'll have an awesome year as he's fitter and will need to have a good year to keep NRL intrest up

| I would prefer Lisone over prior, He has only played 8 games due to injury this year but averaged 110 meters in the games he played. Also he is only 25 so still won’t be at his peak.

Sure, but then he also can't really blame the club if it's inconsistent in paying his wages. If the club has half an eye on other options to replace him, he would have to understand if the club pays his wages in full sometimes but has other times when it coasts a bit and pays him 60%.

| I'd rather have Prior than Lisone, Prior is tried and tested, very consistant and won 2 NRL titles and had a game for New Soth wales. I'd take his experience and consistency over a possible good player.

| I hope we take both. One hungry but potentially unreliable with injuries and the other solid and dependable. I think 2 props will make a much bigger difference to our squad than a prop and a player to fill another position.

i like it
"sorry son, we have had a chat and decided that you were a bit below standard this week.. so you're only getting 60% of your wage."
but on the flip side
"great game today son... here, have this 40% we just took off Patton"

| This is why we need a bit of modern capitalism brought in to the equation. Zero minute contracts are the way to go... Example: Player X comes on and has a bad game so is substituted after 20 minutes but only gets paid for this 20 minutes. Player Y who is keen to impress (he's not fed his family for a week so he definitely wants to impress) then comes and blitzes it for 60 minutes all paid (also winning a bonus payment of a voucher that entitles him to free entry at Wire home games). To keep the players grounded they aren't provided with free work kit etc so have to provide their own shirts (must be identical to that season's kit) or buy them from the club shop at a special rate with 0.01% discount (£40 admin fee not included). It's a good way to manage the salary cap too...
Yours Sincerely
N.E. Director.

| And then the fans could rate their performance on an app out of 5 stars and any player that didn't get at least an average of 3.5 would get wages deducted.

| Leeds are in the driving seat on Prior. Not out of it yet but looking unlikely.
3 teams in for him.
I have a hunch the 3rd is Toronto but I'm only guessing.
Looks like we're out muscled in money...with Price being connected and our connections struggling to persuade him....it doesn't look hopeful.
We may end up getting another Tasi'esk as a panic buy.

| We should have made a play for Brad singleton, looks like Toronto have signed him. So we failed to sign an un-named Prop, Tetevano knocked us back, Prior looks to be on his way to Leeds, we've been "hunting" a prop for months now......genuinely how hard can it be to sign a prop? Lets raid the championship and sign 2-3 props, odds are 1 of them will turn out good. We've started Pre-season, we're 3 weeks away from December and still no solid rumours or anything. It's turning in to a farce. Our recruiting team seriously needs a looking at, unless we pull Jared waerea-hargreaves out the bag i can't see us signing a decent prop just another "chance" prop.

| Why would anyone good want to come and be a part of our boring rugby? Who would watch our games from last season and think "that's amazing, I want to be a part of that"? Our recruiters can name the final appearances and the cup win all you want, we have been dreadful its going to be a hard sell.
We would be in a better position if we had come to an agreement with price and appointed a new coach, at least then it's selling it as a potentially exciting future. Although the same recruiters would also be in charge of appointing that manager!

Bit harsh. Why would Hastings have chosen Salford, Fifita chosen Wakefield and Drinkwater HKR? Certainly not for the prospects of silverware or playing environment.
We have plenty to offer; we undoubtededly need to improve our style, but in terms of the club, stadium, playing rota, facilities, infrastructure, history and last but most certainly not least, wages potential we are an [ieasy[/i sell.

You're right, I'm just still feeling miserable about it all. We have really struggled with recruiting props though and I'm not sure the NRL is the best hunting ground for them. There is a long time to go and I'm just being impatient, they really need to get the recruitment right this season.

$10mNZ. The forwards suddenly think they are worth something.

That i certainly do agree with. I've made tbe point before that, where forwards are concerned, it's some time since we had an unqualified success from the NRL.
I'd much rather us take a punt on a couple of championship or south sea islander forwards, someone hungry to learn and succeed.

They seem to. I always get the feeling that our recruitment is a bit like those chaps at a nightclub at 1.45am on a Saturday night looking for love.

| Can't say I'm looking forward to next season.
Our prop recruitment is a real problem.
It's simply expecting too much for Hill and Cooper to lead every week.
Clearly there are big hopes for Philbin but Sita has still to convince me - except for the high profile hits.
And we've still got SP in charge.....
Hope he recharges his batteries and comes up with far more imaginative game plans than we've seen for the last 6 months.
