| The whole Bailey panto villain stuff was always hopelessly overblown, fanned by some Leeds fans having a laugh at the apoplexy about him from other fans. All the footage I've ever been directed to doesn't show him decapitating halfbacks or running away from fights at all. His job was to wind people up, and he did that. If he was such a cowardly lion he would he would have been beaten to a pulp years ago and long since retired. The reality is he's played prop in SL since he was 18. He might not be an enforcer but he's also far less of a physical coward than people make out.
In any event, how anyone with a straight face can complain about anything Bailey has done on the field and laud Les Boyd as an enforcer, who can be seen smashing Darryl Brohamn's jaw with an elbow in the most cowardly style possible is beyond me.
It's fairly clear Bailey isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He finally p*ssed off Leeds enough that they gave him the flick after well over a decade. It probably shouldn't surprise people that he really struggled at other teams, having been with Leeds since he was a kid. Whether he realises he's in the last chance saloon is another matter, but for someone who isn't that bright, and seemingly entirely immature, it may well have taken a year for reality to bite.
With a contract that says Wire can dump him at the drop of the hat and a coach who has known him since he was a kid, if anyone can get him to focus it will be Tony Smith. If not then he'll just end up out of the game again. It really is his choice.

| Anyone who thinks Bailey is a coward but yet he has played at the top level of a contact sport needs to give their head a serious wobble.
Ridiculous.

He's a coward in Rugby league terms...yes he's tough enough to play the game not in doubt. But he's a definite coward. Just like Les Boyd thought Kurt sorenson wasn't tough, because in Boyds view "he always picked on the little blokes".
I've banged on about the Chris Riley incident before. ...Bailey.hitting a small bloke on the ground when the hooter has gone knowing he's not going to have to drive another ball in, or get a forward point at him and say I'm running at you next time hoose ....sums the bloke up.
Rugby league coward if you like it better.
Someone mentioned Westwood on Green fair do a nasty shot but Westwood stood up and took his medicine (which needed 8 stitches iirc) for the rest of the game. .
But this all doesn't detract from the fact that Bailey is a player aswell.
I hope the er doesn't get a single game. ...

Spot on. He is a poor player with a dirty streak a mile wide. We should be ashamed to sign him.

The thing is, unlike fans, players leave a lot of their beef on the pitch from any particular match.

Yes, let's go with the full pantomime villan act, boo him whenever he gets the ball, and instead of shouting things like "man on !" lets go for "he's behind you !"
No - really - cut him a break, I'm not keen on this signing myself, but at least save any booing until he fccks up.

| He's clearly popular with the Warrington players. There were a whole load of them queuing up to shake his hand at the end of the 2012 Grand Final when they should have been concentrating on trying to win the game.

| I would hate it if Sandow or Gidley ever put in a top performance and led us to a terrific come back win in a final earning a well deserved man of the match trophy. And then some wire fan gave credit to Bailey for winning the game by being a cock....

| I'm firmly in the 'Smith has lost the plot' camp unfortunately. Are we not a successful club? Are we not well managed financially? Do we not have a great owner and backer who likes to join us in the South stand supporting the team we love? (and Ryan Bailey is sure gonna make it hard to love em).
Then why on earth are we signing a lowlife like him when there's been some real quality props on the transfer market??? for example - Dave Taylor, Sam Rapira, Sika Manu, Frank Pritchard, Keith Galloway.
Leaves me mystified

| I can see your point Duffman although the props you mention would not be cheap and were signed up a while ago, probably around the time we were trying to sign Lillyman who would have been a better prospect for me, what went wrong I don't know, we all but had Savellio only for Sts to give him what he wanted I would guess at least matching what we offered.
Not sure about loosing the plot more a little slow out of the blocks maybe, possibly not casting his net far enough, although It's not beyond the realms of reason to believe he thought he had made his catch only for them to slip the net.
As for Bailey under the circumstances I'm not too bothered he wasn't our number one or even eighth priority but we needed an out and out prop not someone we could try there, with that I'm OK, yeah he wound me up and wasn't anywhere near my must have list just one of many players I couldn't take to, but hey ho that's what opposition players are supposed to do.

I cant believe that all these players were offered contacts by Warrington and they didn't want to come. What sort of player would let his agent contact a club and negotiate a contract without first offering him to Warrington. It just does not seem real that we don't know about all the private deals as we are obviously the centre of the rugby league universe.
Is this transfer market on a website?

Jesus! We've had both of these bell ends, Mason and Bailey.
Good luck with Bailey. Be amazed if he lasts 3 months. Injuries penalties and absences are all he's good for.
