I wouldn’t have KF as CEO of Aldi, to busy with gimmicks and not the product, in our case it’s the sport on the pitch. Yes he wants to fill the stadium with new fans but the RUGBY fans will drift if the results are not right. So do something about it or it’s another season of what is it some said Mediocrity.

| Obviously there are a few on here who are never going to watch another game & you will be sadly missed on this forum. But before you go is there anything at all of a positive nature about the game last night. The big crowd, Ashton's try, the number of kids, any decent players or even the performance of Toronto? Come on ... I know it's going to take some doing.

Admire your positivity but no. It’s been said time and time again we are not the club we once were, yes it was great going down to wilderspool and HOPING for a win but it’s different now. Beating Saints at Wembley or beating them 19 nil is just not enough, someone as posted stats on just how bad it is. Fair play if you can pick out fleeting moments of one good move but it’s simply not enough. Btw how can you sadly miss someone you probably don’t know. Yes fans are fickle and will stop going if the results are poor. Having a clown jump off the roof of the stadium is just gimmicks to get people in. To keep sports fans in you have to win it’s the nature of the business.

Aldi turnover £11bn while Wire turnover £7m. So you’re right about not having KF as the CEO. Local branch supervisor maybe

| I don't really want to get involved in the KF bashing becauae I think he has done aome good things; 11000 at home v Toronto is pretty good the marketing setup is good and the profile of the club is obviously high and attractive in order to attact the likes of Hoover to part with their money.
Yes, he appointed Price. But every boss makes appointments that don't work out. This ia where the board and KF need to step up - listen to the word on the streets, empathise with their customers discontent and take action.
I said it before and I'll say it again. The next 4 games are crucial. We have the squad to win them all. Our mental toughness is such we could lose them all. More likely is we'll win some lose some and be no further on. Anything less than a major improvement in performance and consistency should be construed as failure and steps taken.

There were positives last night. Ashton deserved his place and his try, Widdop played well, the West stand wasn’t empty as I expected.
But, the only thing Warrington fans are really interested in now is a grand final win. Look at how little celebration the CC win got. And struggling against Toronto does not suggest that we are heading for a big end to the season.

| I'm a misery and i enjoyed the game. Good crowd, thought Toronto played very well and SBW is still a class act on and off the field (hung around for ages signing autographs). Ashton looks the real deal, excellent player and very exciting to watch. Also thought J Clark had his third good game of the season, vast improvement on last season so unsure why he is getting stick.

| Robwire has nailed it: the only thing we are interested in now is a Grand Final win. That is the context to all the debate about 'well we're not doing THAT bad', which is true.
More than likely what is going to happen is there will be no coaching change, but results will pick up after a while. We will have some good wins and some good performances during the season, rubber duckie will start predicting us to win the treble. We'll finish somewhere between 3rd and 5th, and then lose in the playoffs. The set up we have at the moment gears us up for that level.
Now I could be wrong and maybe we are worse than that and miss the playoffs. Or we might win the CC again or make a GF again. But I would be very surprised if we win the Grand Final this year.
This level of performance is just regarded as disappointment now to fans who have seen us around the same level for the past 7 years. We need someone who can elevate us to the next level.
To continue with the sporting analogies, we're like Andy Murray around 2010/11. Good player who had reached some Grand Slam finals, established in the upper echelon of players, but was watching Federer, Nadal and Djokovic share out the Grand Slams and the only taste he got was getting beaten by them in some of the finals.
He appoints Ivan Lendl as coach, then the next year he wins the Olympics, US Open and Wimbledon. Separates from Lendl as coach and goes back to where he was before. Gets Lendl back and wins Wimbledon, the Olympics, becomes world number 1.
We need that kind of figure who is going to elevate us in to a place where we can be champions. It's not going to happen just from talking to the media about our 'ambition'.

| The other interesting comparison between wire and Lendl was that the changes he made in Murray’s game were all psychological ones. How he reacted when he went a serve down etc. It’s all about the mentality with Wire, the killer instinct and desire to win at any cost.

| Well I thought we were poor. Before the match Price talked about an 'energised' Wire, but on the field our defensive line was for the most part static and allowed Toronto to gain good yards and look for gaps.
Lets be honest, Toronto worked really hard and made the most of their patched up team, but we should have won that game comfortably before half time. Overall Price has a decent squad, but as per last year seems incapable of recruiting a couple of quality props and getting the team to do the basics, let alone any fancy moves when we get to within 10-15m of the opposition line.
Assuming Price remains at the helm for this year, the Board should be looking to sign a top class coach from the NRL for next year. We have the money ( well, the directors seem to have it), so how hard can all that be ?

| Oh well, I see Salford are getting beat again V Leeds.
So now is probably the time to have a quiet word with Watson, what could possibly go wrong? I also doubt our revival will gather much momentum at Leeds Friday.

| Quote ="Grandtour"But it's not stopped raining since our much acclaimed half back pairing have played last 2 games.
Get Hill back, dry firm pitches and =#0000FFplayers having the right attitude and results and, more particularly, performances will follow.
With or without SP though is the question. If with SP and results/performances pick up, will there be so much criticism on this forum? I think not and we call Stains fans - pot kettle black!!'"
This is our biggest problem, yet stems from two things:
1) Our coaching staff ensuring they go out correctly motivated, no matter the occasion, venue or opposition.
2) Our team captain should be the voice on the field, who also makes sure everyone's switched on.
This team has given the impression that they've been half @rsed for the majority of our games since June (if not before) 2019. SP needs to address this issue, and the senior members of our squad need to do their bit as well.
We've had such a period of poor performances, we need something to change in the coaching and captaincy departments.

| I don't get why we would go to Watson? We need someone who can elevate us to a level that we haven't been to before.
Even the fact that we're talking about going for Watson, after they've just been beaten at home by Agar's Leeds, is that we're thinking that Watson would be open to jump ship now because he can see the writing on the wall that last year was a flash in the pan and if he stays at Salford he's going to be mid/lower table from now on. Which hardly suggests he's a great coach with the winning mentality to elevate us the final step of the way.
If we want to talk to a beaten coach how about Brian McDermott? We could make the same argument to him that we could to Watson - "do you think you have more chance of winning SL where you are now or with us?". If we rule out McDermott, thinking that there's no way he would be interested in us, but Watson would be....well maybe that shows we aren't quite the big club that we think we are.
I'd be wary of looking at someone like Watson and being enticed by a one season success story and the narrative of the 'next big thing'. John Pendlebury, Paul Terzis, Shane McNally, Karl Harrison, Justin Morgan, all had that narrative around them at some point.
If Price left now I would much rather go for Paul Anderson than Ian Watson. He's been inside the club so knows more about us, but also his record as a head coach in SL is better than people give credit for. He took over a Hudds team that had finished 7th the year before, and finished 1st, 3rd and 4th in his three full seasons in charge. After he left they finished 12th, 8th, 5th, 10th. Anderson seems to have been forgotten about but he didn't just have a one year flash in the pan season, he had Huddersfield punching above their weight for a while, in an era when Leeds, Wigan and Warrington were all stronger than they are now too.

I'd like someone who has won a GF recently. Wane or McDermott. You know they both have what it takes to win. Coach salary is not salary capped so make an offer that cannot be refused.
I woke up this morning resolute in the belief that Price has to go - simply because I cannot think of a single reason to keep him.

| I'd go with Anderson or Henderson. Watson would be a gamble but it's a good time to try him as well. Doubt we will be relegated, this season as it stands will be a write off if nothing changes, it's a bit of a free hit. Change again at the end of the season if it doesn't work out? Same. Goes for Anderson or Henderson as well.

| There is a head coach in SL who got his team to the Grand Final and Challenge Cup Final in his first season, and then won the Challenge Cup in his second season.
Would he be worth considering, or is he no better than what we already got?

Did you see Salford's team? The difference in their resources vs Leeds' is vast. Salford should by all rights be in the Championship.
I'm not massively pro-Watson but he's a better coach than Price and deserves a shot at a club with a better budget.
That being said, if a coach with a great CV who's not past it is available, then go for it.
Anything is better than Price anyway.

Fair points but
1) We have the biggest budget in the league. Being in finals should be expected
2) His last league season was abject failure
3) Entertainment is important

I’m not one of those serial moaner types, but I’m seriously frustrated by the fact that we have invested so much and not got an adequate return for it (4 cups is great, but two SL titles would mean much more IMO). We have also had some extremely sour periods in this legacy of investment 2004-2019. No major title in 15 years when we have been the biggest spending club by some margin. In fact you could only really say that 2011-2013, 2016, 2018 did we genuinely look capable of a title. That’s 5 years out 15 spending big.
We are doing something wrong somewhere, and a lot of it points to our experience at board level and lack of ruthlessness. That winning mentality has to be evident from the top down - look at Wigan and Saints and how they have handled things. I don’t want to be hard on Price but we are not a small club punching above our weight by reaching finals and championing ourselves as the underdog. We are the second biggest club on turnover with the most generous owners and have failed to nail the one goal that the fans want.
If it makes me a spoiled brat just because I’ve forgotten what it is like to be on a crumbling terrace cheering on a bankrupt club, then so be it. I want a GF win.

| Is there any evidence that we've been the biggest spending club by some margin or is this just one of the assumptions that has come about from other clubs fans dropping innuendos about us and our creative salary cap practices?
If we really have been outspending the rest of the league in a salary cap constrained sport then we have got bigger problems than who the next coach is. The more fundamental questions need to go to who at the board knew about it and who sanctioned it.
We aren't Wigan so when the league catches up with us it's not going to be slap on the wrist and 3 points deduction, we'll get the Saracens treatment.
