Thanks for your contribution:
The plural of wolf is wolves, you may learn this when you go back to school in a couple of weeks.
You make three very intersting points.
1. Tony Smith is the Vince Lombardi of RL : He must be one of the best Superleague coaches ever
2. Morley is the best prop in the history of RL: Again one of the best to ever play in Superleague
3. Myler is better than eastmond and tomkins : No he isn't, and I'm not sure you will find many on this board that say he is.

Never heard TS compared to Lombardi - and equally, Smith (on trophy records) isn't that good.
Morley is also good, but he isn't the best prop ever in SL.
Myler (at present) is nowhere near Eastmond or Tomkins. He needs more time to improve.
Satisfied?

Just to add, you're nearly right there also. I'm just not sure it's such a long way. Had you said still a way to go I would have completely agreed with you. But as we finnished tenth last season, and this season will be at least third I think we have already moved a 'long way'.
good luck next year in high school.

| at the start of the season if someone told me you`d be going back to wembley to contest another final but this time in front of a full house and then finish 2nd or 3rd in the league i`d of well took that..in all honesty theres not a great deal in it between us saints and wigan and leeds..the rest are there to make up the numbers....another good season and it aint over yet

| Watching Warrington used to be a rollercoaster, now it's more like the Big Wheel, you know the views unreal from the top, you know you're going to get to the top to experience that view and there's a bit of you that's not too fussed if it gets stuck whilst you're up there.

Erm I for one am not that interested in where we finish in relation to Saints. It just so happens that Saints are the team we are wrestling for 2nd place with. I doubt very much the Warrington fans are sat at home worrying about where Saints in particular finish, whilst we wash our shirt ready for our trip to Wembley. It will be a shame not to get 2nd after a much improved season for us, but not because it could be Saints who will just pip us, just because 2nd would be an achievement and is very favourable for the playoffs.
It proves nothing comparing people. At the end of the day, TS has turned our squad around, fact. Morley plays superbly, consistently and inspirationally, fact. Myler has a lot of talent, fact.
I certainly know how you feel about having a 'team ravaged by injuries'. We have most definately been there on numerous occasions. Indeed to finish 2nd/3rd is testiment to your previous successes and your experienced squad.
But frankly, I don't care.

So the becnmark has now been set at being experts at finishing runners up ?
Saints would know all about that in recent years, we'll stick with what we have thanks which is a team thats going forward and not one thats falling to bits at the seams.
Anyway, enjoy Royce Simmons next year as i'm sure he'll bring all of his successful coaching career to St Helens next season. He was a massive hit at Hull but his biggest achievement so far has to be when he took Penrith all the way to the wooden spoon
What are you doing saturday ? You'll have to forgive us for not being around to read your enlightening posts as we'll be at wembley.
So whats your plans for saturday ? Is it the usual, a pot noodle and a hand session ?

We are falling to bits at the seams? If we are, but we're in second, what does that say about you? You had to play the bottom team to get to the final this year; we had to play Leeds - again - and without halfbacks. Sure, we have been injury-struck this year but in spite of that, we're second and therefore in with a chance of getting to and winning the Grand Final. Only Bradford have won the GF from third. Once. Fact!

Tony Smith did wonders with the England team Down Under, didn't he? It's all a question of context. Potter did amazing things with the Dragons and yet he's not had the same degree of success at Saints. We're far less disciplined, our defence is far poorer and our attack - aside from some individual brilliance in the side - is basic on the whole. He also happens to be a cardboard cutout. Rolls has been deputy with the Aussie national team for 18 months and worked alongside one of the best coaches in the NRL for years. I'll take my chances on him, especially since he has a reputation for being a club man, rather than a cardboard cutout. If he brings along a better conditioning setup as well, that would be a bonus.

Correct, its a question of context.
So whats the point of bringing up your Tony Smith point above when it has no bearing on his challenge cup or SL achievements which is what we are discussing ?
Nobody could have got that England team to perform against the best international RL team on the planet and the 2nd best international team on the planet, not even Craig Bellamy or Wayne Bennett would have done much better.
We simply got shown up for what we are at international level which is light years behind the australians and were also behind the kiwis especially when they have a full squad available which isn't that often these days, we have some workld class players in the England team but unfortunately we are not world class from 1-17 and you can't afford to carry passengers against the australians or kiwis when their at full strength.
Anyway, to the point about you falling apart at the seams. Your successful team that has carried you for a long time in SL is falling apart at the seams.
Long has left who was your organiser and lead you round the pitch, Cunningham is set to retire, Talau has left who was class at his peak but he hasn't been replacd with equivelant quality. Sculthorpe retired and again he hasn't been replaced with equivelant quality, Flannery is a solid player but he's no Sculthorpe. Cayless left then you brought Fozzard back to replace him lol.
Hargreaves is another average player you signed, Eastmond is a class act but how often is he appearing for you on the pitch these days ? He's certainly no organiser like Long, who will take your team around the pitch after Long and Cunningham ? Don't say Pryce as ive got a cuppa in my hand at the min, he has just over a handful of decent games a year from what ive seen and he's certainly no organiser in the Long or Cunningham mould and neither is Roby or Eastmond as they are 2 individual off the cuff type players.
Yeh your a bogey team, their are plenty of times we should have beaten you but i aint going down that road.

then it wouldn't be the final home game.. we'd play at home the week after.. we could only play wire (in the last game at KR) if we won the first game against wire

Because you were talking as if Royce Simmons, because he has not secured any silverware down under, will somehow be bad for Saints. Tony Smith could not secure silverware for the national side but he managed to do it with Wire. It could be that Tony Smith is a better club coach than national coach; and that Royce Simmons will get more out of Saints as head coach than any other team. Look how much success Daniel Anderson had with Saints compared to what is happening to the Eels just now. It's a question of context and I replied in response to your own mocking comment.
Quote Yeh your a bogey team, their are plenty of times we should have beaten you but i aint going down that road.'"
I don't think I even brought that up. You said we are falling apart at the seams. If we were, we would have been where Bradford is now. THAT is a team which is falling apart at the seams. Well, fallen, actually. But we have at least been competitive and that is in spite of a persistent injury crisis. Hardly falling apart at the seams!
