Heard Mark Wilson on Talksport earlier saying that he believes that Wigan are 'clearing salary cap space' before bringing Williams in. Warrington have made him an excellent offer for next year and beyond but Williams is prepared to wait for Wigan to make room for him.

It sounds to me like the deal to bring Williams back to Wigan was done some time ago but is only just coming to light now that the Raiders have outed him.
I reckon the agreement was in place during the off season when Bateman was heading back to Wigan and Wigan have since been clearing the decks to create space for Williams. That has meant they had to let Hastings go and couldn't afford to keep Gildart.
They both may have gone anyway but wigan stood a better chance of keeping them if they didn't have to clear cap space for williams.
Last weeks performance looked like there was trouble at the mill and all ties into the timining of all of the Williams rumours.
Wigan will come through this smelling of roses though, they always do. I remember the Tomkins incident and the Bateman / Mossop incident thinking that their season would fall apart but at Wigan these sort of things just make them stronger in the long run.

Take that with a pinch of salt, as GW has already tweeted he’s still in Canberra.

Still can't see him coming here, Wigan can sign him straight away, pay him a Marquee wage from next year onwards and he'll only cost 75k on the cap, and Wigan is where he left to go the NRL.

If it was me, I’d just bust the cap out of sight and take the 10k fine, even 2 points is not even with arguing the shat like Wigan did.

How would that work though? He’s not going to transfer to somewhere on a lower salary, unless he’s managed to tie up a long contract somewhere with immediate effect. I doubt that he’ll have earned himself a contract in Aus based on recent showings. Maybe Canberra want him back and have faith that they can utilise him in the right way if it’s at the right price.

I’m pretty certain Williams is on his way to Wigan. Guess we’ll see though.
