Spot on.Think Woody needs to go + England should step up to the plate when he get chances which he doesn't seem to be doing + think i've said enough on Asotasi in previous threads so no point in wasting any more internet space on him.

Apologies for going off thread a bit, as I didn't want to start a new thread just about him, but one guy who was seemingly talked about last season much more than this season is the other Ben who we really need now to step up and play, Ben Currie. I know he is still young but focussed as we are on our pack resources at the moment what are people's thoughts on his development this season?

I dont think I've been more disappointed with a junior coming through the ranks than Ben Currie. I haven't seen a single asset that makes me think Oh he's good.

He doesn't break tackles, he doesn't run through gaps, he doesn't smash people in defence, he doesn't put players through gaps with nice passing. He doesn't't Offload, and he has average pace for a back rower.

It won't sit well with people because he's only 19 - 20 and filled in well enough for Trent in the ten game run.

But I think the boy is rubbish. its just my opinion and no one has to agree. But I fully expect his names will be in one of Sallys post when bagging us all when we are taking about the next big prospect in the academy set up.

Oh and Roy ....... Hes bad. ... He made a decent run on 70 minutes.....seventy minutes. ..

Asotasi is the worst signing I have ever seen us make. He is garbage. When you finish the game with asotasi and wood, two props who only run sideways, it doesn't bode well. Absolutely sure, get rid

Must admit, watching the game last night I dont notice that if Roy found himself in a defensive tackle his first thoughts appeared to be "how do I get out of here and get back 10+" rather than "nobody else here, better step up and play marker".

The Asotasi era was summed up when he was driven back by the Wigan defence and offerred about as much resistance as an Afghan hut in a missile attack. More damning was the fact his teammates weren't exactly rushing to assist him.

The days of props rampaging through the defensive line or dragging defenders on their back for extra metres may be virtually gone, although in Chris Hill we have one of the few props who still does it regularly, but that doesn't excuse the woeful work ethic. I note the bagging of England on here with some dissapproval; he has taken a huge step up in terms of demand but his progress and attitude tells me he will make it. He may not be starting prop next year but, on the back of a good pre-season, I'd bet on him being in the 17 every week. I'd have him, and the likes of him, over the likes of Asotasi every time.

I think people are seeing what they want to with Roy now. He actually went pretty well last night. At the absolute least he did the job asked. Yeah he was driven back in a tackle, a good three man tackle, which prop hasnt been? At one point he made 3 tackles on the bounce pretty much from marker. I'm done with wasting negativity on him, i'm seeing a change in attitude from Roy, and I actually think he's starting to settle.

I agree with the positives on England. He's not the finished article yet but always gives 100% and has made huge progress.

If you watch Asotasi, he simply jogs forward with the ball, there is no attempt to run hard at the opposition at all. And that is pretty evident when you look at the yardage he makes. Yes he is 32, but Morley showed far more effort and determination at 36. It looks as though Asotasi is viewing this as his last pay day before retirement and is determined to protect his body from injury. But he must be on something North of £160,000. So not only are we a prop short in the pack but we are paying through the nose for the privilege. And on top of that he must be seriously pi888ng off the younger players who work twice as hard and probably only earn 40-50% of what he does. TS needs to admit he has made a mistake, stop wittering on about acclimatisation, and get rid of him.

The thing I find really frustrating about it, is I've read two articles from Australia, both saying that he's essentially had to learn how to play again, after playing under fadge and his No offloading military percentage style, and coming here to us.

But he's not even doing that, what annoyed me last night is how quick the defenders were on him, as he's stood still.


If he was running it in hard, with a reluctance to offload, making zero mistakes h could accept it, but he's not, he's a passenger, which is being exacerbated by wood's poor form.

As much as Andrew Gee was an overrated, waste of time, my God, he was as tough as teak, and was prepared to lay his body on the line for his teammates (and Langer in particular), and loved the biff (See either Fleary or Farrell circa 2001)

Huddersfield's Ukuma Ta'ai was awesome tonight! He's never been captain of Souths and captain of the Kiwis at the same time, or even just a feared NRL player...got just 5 caps for Tonga, drove the ball with purpose and pure effort tonight though. Great performance.

That hospital pass to Chris Hill said an awful lot- he's not willing to take a hit for the side and would rather let someone else take the flak. Go back to the MM weekend and there was some fisticuffs with Trent and Walmsley and all the players from both sides came in to back up each other. Roy stood back and obviously didn't give a crap about his team and team mates. I was hoping he would settle in a bit more like Matt King etc. but am now in agreement with Wire Yeds judgement and foresight.

Any of us would pay Wire for the privilege to pull that Jersey on and run out to play against Wigan. It's what I still fantasize about now! I'd run and tackle till I was sick then get up and do it all again. It's the dream.

Roy doesn't give a toss about pride in the club, nor does he care about standing up and being recognised.

People bash Anthony England and that he's not up to scratch (which may be true) but no matter what his enthusiasm and his passion to play well, as well as his willingness to do the club proud is never less than 100%.

I'd mich rather have a team of 17 Anthony England's, all knocking on and running the wrong lines, yet playing their heart out and putting their body on the line. I'd always choose that rather than a lazy sod who struggles to get back onside from being the 3rd man into a tackle.

It's the socks what do it you know. Any player who turns out with his socks rolled down at his ankles looks slovenly, knackered and invariably plays like it. Danny Lima springs to mind. Short of turning out in slippers with a briar pipe I can't think of anything that looks less intimadating on a rugby field.

Given the money he must be on, he must be our worst ever signing. Disinterested sums him up.
I have been watching the fortunes of the Wire since the fifties and I cannot remember a worse value for money buy.
Of course it could be dementia. Can anyone else recall a worse signing?
