2003, he got a call up for the squad and did his shoulder i think, think it was against the kiwi second string that were over in a warm up,
he thought it was nat wood ringing him to wind him up when he got the call, and morley was interviewed saying he hadn't heard of him, being in australia. |

Could you stake a claim for Pat Richards? I appreciate he has rep'd for Ireland but are the current/recent Aussie wingers better than him? Bearing in mind that they have had centres and fullbacks playing on the wings for a while, Boyd Hayne Monaghan Tahu etc. They opted for genuine wingers last year and picked Morris (great winger) and Lote Tuquire (sp) who looked slow and lethargic.
I would also have liked to have seen Tommy Martyn have a run for GB, similar story to Briers really I suppose, maybe could have done something out of the ordinary to unlock a tight defence

Pat Richards I would put in the category of Brett Hodgson....good enough to play and do well at international level, but had too many greats ahead of him in the pecking order. But either of them would have been successful in the Kangaroos line up.
Puts in context how highly Joel Monaghan was rated to be able to get Kangaroo caps on the wing.

In Australia, Harry Bath is generally reckoned to be the best Australian who never won a cap for Australia. Of course, both he and Brian Bevan played many times for the old Other Nationalities team and both were chosen in the list of 100 best-ever Australians a couple of years ago. Bev was first choice right winger.
