There always seems to be a degree of confusion over the salary cap rules and I'm not sure but... Whilst sacking him would get him off their payroll, as he has played for Saints isn't his salary included on the SC for this season regardless?

that was what they said about hicks, but he didnt play for us, and i think thats how we got off with it. But considering hes played surely hell still count on the cap...

Is the cap not live therefore once he has been dismissed and no longer on the payroll then he does not count on the cap?

Maybe Saints will make a move for Briers?

Briers may think that at this stage of his career, it's not all about winning trophies, he could have the opportunity to play in front of his home fans again before retirement.

Exactly what I said this morning, in relation to teletext. Eastmond and Bailey stories were both on the main BBC Sport page. Positive stories very, very rarely make it.
