As rumoured it seems to be us and Leeds in for his signature. What do people think? Would they want Lee Smith to join. I feel that we have a great back line now. Where would Smith fit in?

On the basis that he is cheap and doesn't take much room on the salary cap, then yes, why not? He has international experience and is a Harry Sunderland trophy winner.
I know a young player of his calibre might not be at a rock bottom price, but I can't imagine we have much room on the cap left anyway so he would have to be cheap for us to get him.

We have no salary cap to accomadate him,even letting Penny go imo wouldnt be enough to cover his wages.
Smith him self has said he wants to go to Leeds to be nearer his family.
Tony Smith has said the stories linking him are unture.

Watch Hull KR closely. Liam Colbon out for 2 months minimum & they have been playing a centre at stand-off, so leaves them a bit of a gap in the 3/4s. Add in the freed salary cap space from the departure of Paul Cook....

| With Hicks contract ending soon, and Penny seeming to be less and less likely to make the grade at Wire, I can't for the life of me understand why any Wire fan wouldn't want us to sign Lee Smith 
Hull KR sounds a good shout to me, or how about Wire sending him there on loan for the remainder of 2010 |

Well, I'm not fussed. We're well stocked in the backs and our squad is nice and settled for the first time...well, ever. I wouldn't stamp my feet if he did sign - he's a good player - but I don't want the harmony and relaxed mood in the camp to be put at risk for anything, we're going great guns.
It would be great if he ended up at one of the expansion clubs.

He's versatile. FB/Wing/Centre. His best position is certainly FB. |
