| Quote ="Natters"this is rediculous.
as ive stated in another thread, personally i think it should be an equally fair set price for everyone, under 16's, adults, OAP's, students, disabled, genuinely unemployed, benefit scroungers alike.
If you cant afford it then you dont go simples.
Its not fair that adults have to pay approx £150 more than oaps in the north and approx £170 more than kids. A seat is a seat and should be the same value irrespective of who sits in it.
It should be £180 a seat in the north for everyone.
Cant comment on the south, east and west as i dont frequent those stands.'"
How the chuff do you expect a kid to fork out hundreds of pounds? And how do you expect the club to turn a profit when those who can't afford to go at those ricockulous prices simply stop? Dick.

The new bloke in charge at Hillborough has done a similar thing, half price for unemployed people to sit in the north west corner(cheese wedge stand) it's caused some annoyance with other season ticket holders but it's part of lee strafford's pr campaign* to get local bods/ex speccies to see the owls in a good light again and, following the previous chairman's pr campaign of 'Sue the fans'.
It's also a part of scoring brownie points and selling wednesday as a community club, like villa and Barcelona we've waived any lucrative principal shirt sponsor in favour of free advertising/patronship of Sheffield Children's hospice.
err, thread drift over....

course i do, im not saying i cant afford 17 quid, if ive made the effort to travel the 200 miles north every 2 weeks then course im going to pay the gate fee whatever the price. I just dont agree with students trying to get money off everything they see when they clearly dont deserve it.

From what I can gather from I Hate Pies' original post, he has just made the transition from Secondary Shcool to sixth form and was asking whether the change of Season Ticket - from Wolfpack to student - meant that he no longer had entry into away matches included in his ST price. If anything, he has to pay a lot more than he did before and, I would imagine, with very little, if any, income from part time work.

| I don't know about any other students on this forum, but I personally have never campaigned for student discounts here, there and everywhere. I'm just taking advantage on whats on offer to me.

However I do have a problem with some parts of those who are eligible for student discount. I have no problem with those who are on full time courses (and by that I don't mean 10 hours lectures a week as some "full time" courses seem to be) getting the discount, I don't agree with it being for part time students though - I know someone who has an NUS card for being on a night school course 2 nights a week

Point taken - apart from the insult (no need).
However, consider the amount of people who it may attract ie, those who think £250 is top heavy but would gladly part with £150-180.
I reckon most of the oap's would stump up the extra £50-80 no problems, as for the kids it will be a more worthy investment rather than numerous 2 litre bottles of cider or worse.

But where do you draw the line there? Would you expect a single parent to fork out the same amount twice for themselves and their six, seven, eight year old? I wouldn't want to be paying adult prices for essentially little more than a toddler.

You do have to pay for admittance. Transport is free though, the Tooth Fairy sorts out the use of Santa's sleigh.

only thing ive took advantage off as being a student is the season ticket, the student bus pass for £20 a month which if i didnt have i would spend around £80 traveling to college and a small discount at ODEON

| I spend on average 50+ hours a week on placement, and spend any other time revising/working. I therefore have no time for a part-time job and as such have no form of income. Without a student discount, I would not be able to afford to attend Warrington games. I imagine several others are in a similar position.

Ok then have reduced prices for primary school kids. Maybe have deals on for one parent families with more than one kid under the age of 10/11.
Older kids, who could get part time jobs, should pay the same as everyone else. Ive seen some older kids who are actually physically bigger than some of the adults yet only pay buttons to get in.
Over 11's, OAP's, Adults and Students should all pay the same.

Although your hours are probably extreme in most cases you do raise a good point. At the moment I am in Uni 3 - 5 days a week (with the other weekday time meant to be "directed self study" - and to pass you do need to spend those hours studying to be fair) but I am in a position where I can work a few shifts per week to top up finances. When I go out on placement though the shift patterns and hours mean i won't be in a position to do that.
It comes back to my earlier point though about the difference between those who really are full time students getting the discount and those who are in for a few hours a week getting it.
