I don't agree with the practice, but an auction has to be fairer for the ordinary punter than being up against businesses who can pay a higher price and claim the cost as marketing expenditure, not pay it out of a wage packet. |

They are picked at random. Our daughter was mascot a cpl of years ago and she just all of a sudden got a letter in the post a cpl of months in advance sayig "you have been selected......blah blah blah".
