Glenn Stewart was OK when he played for Manly. Since moving to the Bunnies he has gone steadily downhill. Against the Roosters last weekend he was plain awful, Steer clear (unless you want another Asotasi)!!

OK when he played for Manly? He was brilliant. Won the Best Second Row Dally M Award twice and won two Grand Finals (he was MOTM in the 2011 final).

He'd be a very good signing for any SL club. We should be all over this.

Reading that article, I wasn't aware that Pat Richards was joining Catalan next year. I thought he would have stayed in Oz for the rest of his career.

You need not move past Roy for case closed on that one but some may add one of the Monaghans, awful in his signed position initially and King wasn't too far behind in his first year (it took a change of coach to change their performances). Not entirely sure everyone wouldn't put Waterhouse in this category either.

And we can go back to Paul Rauhihi, Tony Tatupu, Dallas Mead, Matt Rodwell, Mike Sullivan.....

There's plenty of french players too. Before complaining about Catalans you should have a look at the HKR squad.

Roy didn't arrive as a top player. He hadn't been a top player since about 2010. From then on his quality slowly declined and i don't think he barely played half a dozen first grade games for the Rabbitohs the season before we signed him.

The current Salary Cap is stifling this competition. The cap doesn't strive for bettering the league, it 'builds' quality from the middle, the average, the mediocre. The best players will find this league easy or move on to earn more money in the NRL or Union. It's time we upped the cap and started building quality from the top, the best, the elite. We will then retain more of our better players and entice better quality from abroad or dare i say it Union.

Once we start to do the competition will be miles better and we can move away from the Foxy Bingo level sponsorship this sport has in this country and attract more corporate names into the sport.

Tbh i don't have sky sports so i don't get to watch any overseas sides ,but judging by the reaction on this forum when Roy was coming over i thought he was the Messiah...there were people on here wetting themselves at the mention of his name. I think the whole Roy debacle though must call into question the clubs overseas scouting set up & we can't blame Roy for getting an extra 2 year salary when it was offered.

i don't think that was the case at all, at the time people were lamenting the lack of quality of overseas players, by how crap the Invincibles(i've already forgotten the name of that team) was, due to the NRL salary cap increasing, we weren't getting any of the big names coming over at the end of their career, or otherwise.

Asotasi, was a BIG name at that point, and having been World cup winning prop and pack leader, it was seen as a fairly big coup, in light of the trend at that time, with some expectation of him replacing moz as leader.

In all honesty looking back, i wish we'd Signed Sam Moa before he went back to the NRL.

I admit to being excited when he was revealed as a signing. This made my disappointment so much worse when I saw him play in the flesh, as it wasn't the player I had witnessed on Premier Sports playing in the NRL.
