But I'm with you. It would be a strange move for him to make. If anything as a club Warrington have moved ahead of St Helens recently with the facilities and staff at the HJ looking far better than what we have. Smith seems to be aiding the rebuilding the youth system at the club too so the likes of Saints and Wigan should no longer be able to cherry pick from the local amateur sides as has always happened so far.

Saints by this time next season will have a nicer stadium and potentially a team more capable of winning SL again if the acquisitions are right, although Lyon turning us down wasn't ideal.

But given that we need a new coach to start at the latest in Feb next year it means we'll also have to pay compensation. I think it's safe for Wire fans to sleep easy at night. The only potential problem is if he starts dreaming of coaching in the NRL, but that would take a while as they are not so quick to sack coaches over there.

Me thinks our next new coach will have a surname beginning with Sculthorpe and an experienced old head as 'Director of Rugby' or something. Avram Grant will probably be free by then.

He hasn't stopped the slide of Warrington youth going to Saints yet, a number went last season with more looking likely to go August / July time.

i know some top class players which are set to make the big time in a few years and saints have gone and nicked them from the wire ranks!

Only a handful ever make it from any age group, so even if they took 10 players from us, most would not make it.

True, but if just one of those turned out to be good it would be a worthwhile policy. And it's got to be a concern that this was/is happening?

Why so? We do not have a monopoly on Warrington based players. We sign players from all areas.

Someone went to Saints last year that was highly rated can't remember his name, we lost Mellor to Wigan as well.

Andy Dixon was a crosfields amateur and is in the Saints first team squad this season. Even played against Wigan.

That could say a lot about either our youth setup or Saints'.

I think Nathan Brown would be a great appointment for Saints, a young but expierenced manager who loves flowing, pretty attacking rugby but also targets the defence (Hudds let in the least points last year).

10 Wire U15s got called to the England training camp the other week.

You would like to think players would stay with us with Wire having good links to schools and Chester Uni but we don't just get players from round here, the Evans twins were spotted at the 2005 CC final, they are from Wales as are Kriss Wilkes, Dale Blackmore and Craig Harvey.

well its sorted now he is here till november 2013 for sure,BUT what i dont get is why coaches dont want to stay long term like for instance fergie at united etc,why not build something like that,something that will last for a long time and give other coaches targets to reach instead of win something then just move on???? as for future signings well seems BH is coming but if mathers continues to play as he did yesterday how can we let him go?

I'm sure the majority of coaches would love to be offered a ten year contract - it's not them not wanting to that means it doesn't happen, it would be madness for a club to offer one, so they don't, as it would be more costly to get rid of one they didn't want anymore.

Well surely you have to take the chance sometimes,ive heard many fans from other clubs saying TS is best coach in league currently so why not tie him down if thats the case?
