Nobody can force him to fulfil his massive potential, he is going to have to want to do that for himself. This is the right move by Smith under the circumstances. It's up to him to prove he is worth being back in the squad, it's plain to see that he has massively let the team down, over to you Tom you need to make up for this.

We could do with signing Jordan Tansey now to give the dressing room a real party atmosphere. I'm sure he would love the flesh pots of Warrington.

He hasn't got massive potential, he is a good SL winger, great finisher, but lack guile and speed off the mark to be a great winger. Very naive defensively which hasn't improved in 5 years, I don't think he is very bright on and off the field.

I would have like to have kept him, but the money offered for a player of his ability was far far too good and we have invested wisely and replaced him well from within with a player with real potential.

If anyone can bring him to his potential TS will bring it out of him. If he doesn't TS has shown in the past 12 months he will cut loose players not up to standard. In that case it will have obviously have proven the signing as a mistake, having said that, £140k is a big deal for Hull, it's not really for us, it would obviously though bring questions on TS decision making in signings.

During Smiths reign he cut loose both Penny and Riley for either poor ability, poor play, poor attitude and/or poor behaviour, personally I have no idea which, but they cost the club nothing but time and effort. Lineham has cost a fair wedge, we have seen over the years that dropping players with a hefty buy in fee doesn't always happen regardless of how bad they get.

He has never dropped an Antipodean player but he has form for dropping an English signing.... Richie Myler was dropped for the CCF.

Not sure if that was form or injury, I think Rauhihi was in and out of the team that season. Myler was definitely a shock as he came with a big transfer fee (£125k?) and the comparisons to Lineham are similar.

On another note I see George Rose is thinking about a comeback in SL, maybe we should sign him so Lineham can stand next to him on team photos and make himself look slimmer.

iirc Rauhihi was left out of the '09 final at the expense of Tyrone. Myler was left out of '10 final (his first season with us) with Briers and Monas playing in the halves.
