League Express revealed last week a deal for Kyle Eastmond was nearing completion it is understood it is now finalised.

It goes on to say who makes way for Eastmond is yet to be determined though League Expressunderstands the Wolves are preparing to make a significant announcement which could pave the way for Eastmond’s arrival.

All this is in a piece regarding Patton’s future in today’s paper.

Well I’m seriously underwhelmed as Patton seems to have found his place in this Warrington team and we are gambling large amounts of our cap (even with he discounts) on a player who hasn’t played league for years. Not the direction I wanted to see the club heading in, so I hope Eastmond doesn’t turn out to be a dud like most of the returning former RL stars have been. Happy to be made to eat my words though, so here’s hoping.

It would seem strange for Patton to be moving unless it is his decision. Price seems to be wanting him as back up hooker/utility player & if an injury happened to Clark ,without suitable back up ,it could derail our season. Also with our present halves & their injury problems i am sure Patten will never be out of the team for long anyway.

So who do we think is leaving? K Brown? I thought it was odd that he gives up Internationals due to the number of head injuries, yet is willing to risk carrying on . Got to say he has been worth his weight this season.

I guess it depends where we see Eastmond playing.

If he's coming in as a centre, does that put Atkins name in the frame?

If its as a half then one of Roberts or Brown would be on their way. Can't believe we'd release Patton just to bring in Eastmond, the figures don't stack up.

A case could be made for Brown, Roberts or Atkins for a reason to be leaving to be honest.

It may be that Patton wants to start every game or wants a salary we are not prepared to offer.

I must admit when Brown scored his try on Saturday and got [ianother[/i clattering I did think that he looked like a player with one eye on his future health.

Would be a shame if he gave it up early as I thought he was excellent again v Wigan, but totally understandable.

Alternatively maybe Tyrone's improvement was a swansong or maybe Patton has voiced his dissatisfaction at being demoted to back-up hooker.

Any disruption to the halves would be a blow as the Brown-Roberts combination is starting to bear fruit but we have to think long term, and if anyone is unhappy or not in it for the long haul then we have to act sooner rather than later.

Fair enough. I wish he had been good enough to play halfback for us, but he is not.

He is doing well in current role, fair enough he wants to play half back but had he been good enough he would of already secured that position. He as had plenty enough opportunities.

Completely agree with this, a change of position might be the making of him. Monas came wanting to play half, moved to hooker and it worked out amazing

Not saying Patton is anywhere near monaghans level but you get what i'm saying

He goes missing in far too many games playing at half back. He has been a tonic in the dummy half role. He brings energy back into the team and creates panic in the defensive line when he takes on the line and fires out passes.

I’m hoping Price persuades him to be patient with the dummy half role. He may get the chance to prove himself at half back when injuries arise even if he isn’t first choice in that position. If he goes to Wigan I’m not entirely sure what he offers them above Powell.

I don’t think Price is the kind of person that can be held to ransom. I honestly think Patton should persevere with current position, as an earlier poster said it was the making of Michael Monaghan.

We have a pre-season and KE has more than that...we will know far in advance of 'perceivering during the season'.
If he ain't good enough at hb...he'll not be playing it.
However I know he is...you don't forget how to ride a bike...
I think KE will need the long pre season to slim back down to hb weight....then we will see that skill again.

As will Sandow. I can't wait to see Sandow blow away the Championship and the middle 8s too.
How long he will last there without temptation is another question altogether.

Kyle Eastmond, not for me. Centre...maybe, even then would he replace what we currently have?. Key half back after being out of league so long? Nah...there is a lot better out there if we look hard enough.

Arh sorry Easy pal...well Patton isn't as good as KE was, but he could have a role here.
There is some doubt over KE, and Patton is preferred over Smith. Patton only has to make himself un-dropable.
Everything is in Patton's own hands...waiting around has nothing to do with it...yes, under TS, as he had his favourites, but this doesn't seem the case with Price. Look at Livett. Your good enough to own that jumper you'll keep it until it's took off you.

Patton has the opportunity and his destiny is in his own hands. He'll not lose that bench spot. If one of the spine gets injured, cometh the man. If he fails, then he'll likely fail at Wigan too.

On here the view of Patton is quite split i think. For me, is he super league standard? Yes absolutely. Is he the standard of where Warrington aspire to be? unfortunately..... No, and hes had enough chances to try and convince me otherwise.

As long as he is in this squad he has a chance. I want him to succeed. I want Warringtonians in our team.

Price has given us the healthiest environment we've seen here in decades. The players have bought into it.

Not denying that RD. Same with Penny. We all want the Warrington lads to do well. Course we do. For me though...he isn't quite good enough for where we want to be.

I know everyone thinks Patton has had his chance at HB but there are chances and good chances. Look how much better Kev Brown has been behind a decent pack this season. Gaz O'brien also suffered from playing behind a weak pack. Tyrone looked fantastic last Saturday but the space he had was due to a dominant pack making plenty.

Exactly.
Been saying it forever. All Brown has ever wanted was to play behind a strong pack. It's no wonder he was always getting injuries. Trying to go forward by himself.

Where exactly should we be 'looking hard'? The fact is that there are very few high quailty half backs in SL and it's likely that even a straight-back-from-Union Eastmond would be as good as 90% of those playing in that position now. His potential for being much better is high.
