| Fans have a month to arrange shift cover and/or book the afternoon off work to get over to the game. If they want to go, there's plenty time to arrange it.

I gather that Mordor is much easier to access these days - they've built a link road from Rohan, so you can avoid all the congestion at Minas Morgul and drive straight in; so although it may still be true that one doesn't simply *walk* into Mordor, one can however drive in relative comfort.

Because we are at home to Salford the following Thursday.
Always a reason.

| Just got a notification from BBC saying the Warrington v Huddersfield game has been 'postponed', this happened for the Hull & Catalans games before it was announced that we would be playing on the Friday night...
Looks like this one will be moved too then!

| I think it's about time we did away with neutral semi finals now anyway.
1st and 3rd out the back get home ties.
The monies split equal though and that includes all food and drinks and corporate
It wouldn't be a fare deal Catalan get. What is the point of playing a neutral game at a ground round the corner so to speak for one team and ten miles or 0000's of miles in the case of Catalan or even a Toulouse or Toronto one day?

I can't agree RD K enjoy a neutral venue as it sets the game apart on the build up to Wembley, the problem is the amount of suitable grounds that we have and I'm not sure but do the RFL have one in Lancs and one in Yorks or does it depend who's playing? I think that we should be playing Wakefield in Huddersfield geographically, but, the grounds too big, with Wigan v Hull at Headingly.
As far as Catalans, Toulouse and Toronto are concerned, they need to play where the competition is IMO imagine Catalans playing Toronto away in a semi and Toulouse playing Widnes where would they play the Toronto Toulouse Final?....stick with tradition I say

| The final to be played at the traditional Wembley. I was talking about the semi.
Your post UR highlights the problem perfectly. Lack of ideal stadia. Until they address that expensive area, move the semi to the favoured draw home ground.

| Catalans are always going to be at a disadvantage with semi finals so would it be fairer all round to play semi finals over 2 legs ,home & away & let the accumulated scores decide. I don't think fans would be happy paying for 2 games though.

I understood that you were talking about the semis my (daft) point was what would happen in a Toulouse v Toronto final given the title of the thread

| What's wrong with Doncaster and Leigh for the semi-finals? Also got HJ, Salford and St Helens if that sort of size is required. If you ever need bigger, then Hull, Wigan, Huddersfield are all ok. The stadia are not a problem.

As far as Doncaster is concerned it's probably 20 miles further for Wigan to travel to in comparison say Headingly which might be more geographically central, (but not necessarily easier to get to) so I don't think that it isn't an issue.
Despite what people say size does matter so our game is held at a stadium 10 miles away for us yet 60 miles for our opponents, if they'd have travelled an extra 3 miles we could have played at home and that's where a lack of suitable stadia kicks in.
Huddersfield is too big but Leigh is too Wire-centric IMO why aren't we at Salford easier for the M62 and they've built a pub ha? Wakefield fans are probably on Cloud 9 being in the semi but I don't think Leeds were that impressed apart from the result playing us at Saints. If Castleford had built their ground would we all be happy going there in reverse (fixture not gear/direction of travel)?

If Catalans finish in one of the top two league positions, & qualify for a home semi final play off position, for the Championship, then similarly, whoever qualifies to play them, will also be at a major disadvantage.
Les Cats charter their own flights to & from the North of England, & play on the same day that they travel. They are also accustomed to the travelling.
Maybe their opponents could do the same, but I am unsure of the logistics given the time available to organise it.

And why not, next year's City of Culture?
Although the thread is bout the inconvenience or not as far as the fans are concerned and even though there were a few at Widnes and ours they will always have to travel unless playing Toulouse in the future?

| Why didn't they just make it simple.
Both semi finals on the Saturday.
Both semi finals held at Huddersfield.
Each team gets a stand.
Wigan at 3pm
Wire at 6pm

| Why not play both games on.same day at the same stadium??
Elland Road 39k capacity Bolton wanderers 29k capacity
The 4 clubs together would stand a good chance of filling them and if not there could be interest from neutrals if not a huge distance from ground it's held at
And ppl will know where it's at and on what day is on well in.advance

| Ha ha we both thinking same thing I'm also sure that the BBC wouldn't really be opposed to this too and it will give us better exposure on tv if it's rugby league all day on a Saturday bbc2 or Sunday probably bbc1
