For a small relatively unsuccessful team when compared to our more glamorous neighbours we don't half seem to have got under their skin. Why on earth would one spend the best part of their Friday on the forum of a team that has just beaten you?

My advice to Saints fans is enjoy whatever success comes your way this year, because after it you will be in need of major, [imajor[/i transition.

Of their starting 6 forwards, Thompson is off to the NRL and the rest are well past 30 and tailing off into periods of niggly injuries and decline.

The much heralded youngsters in the pack really didn't look like they fancied an attritional battle without Uncle Alex to hide behind and the backs without Makinson and Coote look pedestrian.

There's more important games to come, and both clubs will want their best 17 on the pitch. That was neither sides best 17, but you rarely have that luxury in contact sport. We'll enjoy the two points for now, and look forward to further encounters. No point in getting over excited after round two of SL.

You could say that about any side. BMM is off to the NRL, Hill, Widdop, Gelling and Clark are entering or about to enter periods of decline. Austin will be back in the NRL if anyone will take him etc etc. Saints will always be relatively strong as we will produce quality young players consistently.

I actually think LMS (much as he bugs.me) and Taia will be bigger.misses than Roby. Roby is still a good player but has been on a downward trajectory for 2 years now and injuries have [icertainly[/i been a factor.

Roby was/is a drain on cap and restriction on fresher replenish as was Bennie for us...sentiment will be costly for the Vee. A season too far. He's been a good un though...not as good as his predecessor I might add.

I don’t think It was a drain to see him lift the title again from the front, continuing his illustrious career and remarkable trophy haul.
