We didn't deserve the win. But to lose by 7 points with 3 dubious video ref decisions. Wigan 2nd try which was never in control when grounding. Then both warringtons tries in the last 5 minutes. Both of which should have been a try in my opinion. Would have turned the game and would have given us the win.

We contributed to the loss. But the sticking point in many peoples view. Not just mine. A few on here. And many in the stands. (Which wilkin acknowledged as a reasonable view) was them last 5 minutes.

With what we had on show tonight. I'm more than happy with how we came out of that match. I thought we were light in the pack. It turned out to be true. We were dominated for a good 75 minutes of a 80 minute match. And throughout it all. With everything thrown at us. Wigan constant attack. And defence. (We will ignore the 3 high shots at the start of the match) and consistency in slowing the play at the ruck down. (How long does the ref want to allow Wigan to lie on the man. They may as well get a room with how long the ref allowed it) Wigan should be extreamly relieved to come away with the win, and we can come out of it in a positive way. Speed the game up like we tried too and successfully did 4 times. We opened Wigan up and scored a try and should have had another 2/3.

2 try’s disallowed were they given we won, my point being however tough the game was we were not massively out of it. Saints still won’t be fancying us next week, beat them then a break and then smash Wakefield, lose that then maybe you can have concerns.

That comedy penalty under the sticks shouldn't be overlooked in the overall analysis, given for absolutely all and gave Wigan a nice 6-point cushion.

Lessons we should learn:
- Kasiano is not a starting prop. If so many players have been banned or injured that Kasiano has to be a starting prop, we are in trouble.
- Matautia needs to re-learn his technique for standing up and playing the ball. Two unforced drops ffs.
- Only go wide off a decent play the ball. In the first half we were getting walloped, but then chucking it wide in our 20 made it worse. Trust in your go-forward and the chances will come. Even tonight they did: in the last 10 minutes Wigan's defensive line wilted quite rapidly but we didn't take advantage.
- If you've got forwards on the bench, use them. Not sure how many minutes Green played but it wasn't enough. Sure you protect a young lad but the players on the field were losing the battle, he needed to be on for longer.

I couldn't really work out our bench strategy tonight, none of it seemed to work. Did Thewlis get injured?

1st one. Wigan 2nd try. No control over the grounding.
2nd one. Warrington 1st no try. Explain how Vaughan touched the ball when the ball went back. Either Vaughan tipped the ball back. Or the Wigan player touched the ball forward. Both would be play on and a try. The ball was travelling backwards. In all replays.
3rd one. Words fail me on that last no try. I don't even know what was wrong with it.

Just on the video ref decisions, we look silly by claiming the Drinkwater 'no try'. That clearly went forward off Vaughan into the Wigan player.

The other two decisions were outrageous.

Agreed. The Drinkwater one is not an issue for me. Looked a relatively clear knock on live. Slowed down you can maybe have an argument on the trajectory of the ball off Vaughan's hand, but not enough to be able to give it.

1. Clearly was grounded. Main issue was potential offside but having watched it back he wasn’t.

2. I’m not sure how you can claim Vaughn didn’t touch it. Very odd.

3. Ref was in a great position and thought there was separation.

If it goes up as a try it gets given. If it doesn’t it doesn’t. I personally don’t think he had control but it was only fractions of a second but that’s how big games are won and lost…not that it would have made a difference anyway.

In addition to the points mentioned, a big one for me, especially against Wigan, is adapting our lie on time at the ruck. If the ref isn't penalising prolonged lying on, then we need to lengthen our lying on time to match.

We'll be fine though and as others have said, we did well to compete given our lack of props.

Referee and video ref were poor but we were worse. Wigan wanted it more and that’s alarming. Powell isn’t at fault either, why is he picking two wingers on the bench? I know Jamie Redecliffe pretty well and he doesn’t take a backwards step, runs hard and tackles hard so not sure why he wasn’t on the bench. Powell got it wrong tonight and we need a big reaction next Thursday.

No problem with that loss, we were absolutely second best and yet were never fully put away by a team playing well and up for it. We looked jaded tonight and that’s fair enough but we’re good enough to still compete in such circumstances. Hope we can scrape a win next week and then we should be back to full tilt after the international break. I think losing sooner rather than later is a good thing in a way and that a loss I can take with plenty of positives. Kendall poor but Wigan deserved the win.

Didn't watch the game, but surprised at that result. What happened? At least you'll get back on the horse next week if that's any consolation.

Wigan had the better forwards. Kasiano may as well have impact sub tattooed on his forehead. Why are we starting him? Should have been Minkin at centre, Mata’utia at 13, McGuire at prop.

Totally agree on all 3 decisions. We may have nicked that in the end, it would have been a totally undeserved win though, maybe last week was too.

We should feel confident in that even when we aren't the best team against the best teams in the competition, if we hang in there we may still be able to win. I'd take a 12-5 grand final win after getting beaten all over the park and that's what tonight may have been, if they called the offside (grounding is irrelevant) and then awarded minikins try with no separation downward pressure and no evidence of a knock on.

Wigan deserved it, video referee was appalling, we could have nicked one, on another nogbt we could have nicked one which we didn't deserve, despite the personelle missing. There is no reason to be worried off tonights showing, we can compete with the teams we need to compete with. We will need to be smarter in those conditions though.

Only beef I got is why have Wigan got a 9 turnaround.

We were munched for position by a better pack, and a quality kicking game from Harry Smith.

Looking ahead, despite only a 7 points loss against Wigan with only 1 prop out, and nobody else to come in, they are pretty much where they are, Wigan won’t get much better than that…
Whereas Wire have got another 3/4 gears to come back yet.

Simple question. Do you think O'Neil, not even taking into account the offside, had more control over the ball for his try than Minikin had for his no-try?

If the calls were in our favour and not yours you'd probably be taking it worse than we are, because you definitely deserved to win. You watch them again, ask yourself honestly if you'd be happy if that was us scoring against you or you having a try disallowed at tbe death. It was a night of fine margins, although when looking at all the stats, you lot should have blown us out of the water.
