| How do you solve a problem like Maria, sorry, I mean Declan.
Simple. You get rid.
He's got 3 years under his belt, and all our coach gives him, is 10 minutes at the end of the game.
There's the issue. Our coach doesn't trust him, so why are we giving him a wage/ taking up salary cap space. In three years, he hasn't improved, but, being fair to him, he hasn't got any worse. That's just it. He's ambling along. Sat next to the coach for 70 minutes, thinking what's on the post match buffet, and then not doing much when he comes on.
He's Matty Blythe. He's Dom Crosby. He's Ben Evans. He's not bad. Just nothing special. Time for him to move on.
Let Salford have him, or HKR or London.
If we don't get anybody by the time the squad meets back for training, looking at Matty Smith should be considered seriously. If we don't swoop for a GF winning SH, someone else will.....and he's better than Patton.

And not for the first time I've been a lone figure on here and still came through.
The lad has it if he wants it. Perhaps Paul Anderson working closer to him has seen more in him in 2 months than TS has since Patton became a Wire.
I don't think Steve Price playing Patton behind SL highest ever earning 7 is dismissive of Patton...but rather an endorsement of his importance by awarding him a bench spot above other contenders or even snap recruitment.'"
I was in it and partially still am, he got us to a gf when Sandow was injured and really played well and controlled the games, we're we not winning until he went off in the grand final??
All we wanted were those performances on a consistant basis, not really happened, not really been given a long enough run there tho. There was a rumour the more senior players were overruling his calls Smith fallouts etc if true they would have had an effect, but a champion player would buckle down and work harder to overcome it. I would have been OK if he had partnered Roberts tjis year with Smith as cover.
I think that the interchange booker may be out of necessity, but it will give him the experience in controlling the direction of play it could benefit him, how many of our half backs went on to be bookers could happen with Patton. I don't think we need to get rid but he does need to start proving his naysayers wrong and start to win us games which I think he can.

I pointed out first he was a big fat lazy lard....
But I stuck to him because how can it be that we see a man in the NRL peeing it there....then we get a feckin flump!

Patton isn't going to give you 5 star for every little last minute he's thrown in...few would. He's not Andrew John's...and what did he do in the play off semi vs Hull.!?
Patton need's a run...just give the lad a season at 7.
Price needs to listen to himself.
'The team doesn't need change but to evolve'!
Well get the lad in...back him for a season....if he doesn't do it, then fine..but a snip here and there, playing off the bench as a forward...come on, the guy is a hb all day long.

CALLUP : Patton got a late call up because Richardson was injured.
SCOFIELD : Gary Scofield in mid March said "Warrington will get nowhere near the top 4".
TRUST : Did you trust Tony Smith after he signed Asotasi and Bailey.

But guess what...you won't like this either...I BLAME the gutless STEVE PRICE for not having the bottle to drop the biggest lazy flump for Patton.
In the Challenge Cup final and Grand Final Patton pleaded to get on the pitch.
In the Grand Final 30 min's before the end Patton said to Price get me on, I'm ready, I'll do something here, I'll win it. Price turned to Briers...Briers said 'get him on'...Price 'bottled'[edited it...he left him out.
Only forced to bring Patton in when it was all too late.
I don't give a shiny one [edited now....I've kept my cool. I know what's going on.
[Edited as requested'"
Players always want to get on the field, their case is strengthened if they have previous of winning big games, or any games.
In the Challenge Cup final Patton kicked out on the full and in the Grand Final knocked on soon after coming on.
You can see why Price might be sceptical of his claim that he would win the Grand Final...
I am never sure what to make of these alleged Patton stories. Wasn't last years, that he gave TS some 'home truths' in the dressing room. If you're going to be like this, you have to back it up with something on the field.
The stories are probably Chinese whispers anyway.

| I think Patton lost a fair few brownie points with [ithat[/i tackle at Hull. Until then he was on the frnges but after that Price seemed to lose faith, and I certainly don't blame him for that having witnessed three years of stagnation from Dec and excuses from Dec's admirers.
I'm afraid he is either :
a hooker who can't tackle, distribute effectively and hasn't the acceleration to exploit a quick play-the-ball
or a half back with pedestrian pace, little game management skills, average kicking game and no timing
Take your pick, or trade him in, but lets admit if he hasn't shown it by now at this level, he's unlikely ever to.

All the world's best players are the ones who took risks....and made countless errors...what makes it some shameful on the treatment of Patton us that we can actually recall those risky errors or even daft errors.
He ought to be in a position that he makes so many errors we lose count...but eventually all those errors begin to fizzle out and those risks become routine.
Players around instinctively know with a wink and a nod what's on.
God knows how many errors Lee Briers made but SC loves the sun that shines out of his backend.
He was given a shot...2 shots even by TS to get himself right.
By God he did.
Patton deserves a shot just for being left out being the lazy flump.
Who with hindsight wouldn't have dropped Roberts for Patton had we known what he was going to give us?
No Chinese whispers from Patton pleading to get on the field to Price....no Chinese whispers about Price asking Briers. It happened but Price couldn't get out of 'his' comfort zone.
We never looked like we would score vs Wigan. Price should have made that call.

Whats the wifi like in the Lower Angel, Duckie? Pull yourself together, Sir. I'm all for calculated risk (just the other night I had a jammie dodger that was a week past it's sell-by) but at some point it becomes sheer-blooded mindedness.

But your a winner because you took a chance on that jammie dodger. It was delicious and you got a result...but you risked it.
Far better to risk 7 days on a sell by date than have a rich tea to find if you leave the rich tea in the brew too long it will eventually fall on the cup...just like Roberts...he was nothing more than a boring rich tea biscuit.

| Nothing wrong with rich teas, I'm unhappy with that comparison. Rich teas are not a precursor to a limp attack. You should get better at dunking before you go slagging biscuits off.

God knows how many errors Lee Briers made but SC loves the sun that shines out of his backend.
'"
The sun shines out of Briers booty because he is an all time Warrington great.
But the comparison is revealing. Briers was at a similar stage as Patton is now in terms of number of games played, in the 1999 season. Back then Briers was prone to a lot of errors, but he was also showing the ability to turn matches. He was kicking out on the full, missing tackles, getting distracted in arguments with the ref, but he was also running to the line, doing a show and go and breaking through, picking off interceptions, setting up tries with cut out balls or kicks to the corner, and his long kicking game whilst sometimes going out on the full was also bringing 40/20s and he never kicked straight down someone's throat.
So you could take the rough with the smooth and in the end the smooth dominated and he became the best in SL.
Patton...has not shown those gamebreaking traits that Briers had. He's varied between being OK, promising quite good, anonymous, and anonymous with errors. It's not just about taking risks either, its about having the flair and athleticism to be a gamebreaker, which Briers had.
Also it's not like Briers had it easy at Warrington either, he came in to a much poorer team and more disorganised club than Patton did, he had to face us signing Steve Blakeley to compete for his spot, then being pushed to fullback by two different coaches. He could have disappeared and had loads of excuses on here "he was ruined by DVDV/Anderson" but real talent fights its way through. I don't see Patton doing that, I see him leaving in a couple of seasons with his fans on here giving various excuses that he would have been a great if it wasn't for being ruined by TS and Price, and this will seemingly be irreparable ruin that also means he's average at his future clubs!
