hmmm, this looks an even more strange answer now given what is being done in the new corner. Why do that if empty stand appearance is unimportant? The new corner will look great and it's a shame we'll have that odd strip of yellow seats not far away.

If you mean the ones at the back of the North Stand, they have been/are being removed and replaced with blue.

Still, could be worse, we could have seats totally the wrong colour (a la Salford).

It amazes me how much room is taken up by tunnels and walkways at the HJ. Compare it to some of the big football grounds, they have far more seats to walkway area.

As much as that? Do the corners really hold 1,250 each? Didn't think they were that big.

The way they've built the stands behind the sticks at DW would make it difficult to fill in the corners. They've bricked up all the sides, unlike HJ, so it would take quite a bit of work to restructure it in a way to hold the roof. But I reckon it could be done if needed. I doubt they'd purposely design it in a way that would make it not possible to expand.

Don't see the need to expand it though myself. How many times has the place been full? Wigan Athletic's biggest crowd this season has been 18k so far and they're in the Premier League (although they've only played two North West teams so far this season).

Wonder if there will be an attempt to get some cladding on the outside of the SE croner before boxing day, otherwise it might get a bit chilly/wet at the now open ends of those stands.

I'd put my house on Wigan RL having filled it more often than the Latics.

I'm just making an assumption, but surely Latics fill it for games against Man Utd and Liverpool for example? If not, bloody hell how are they still alive?!

i would have thought wigan fans would be more concerned about getting their own stadium, rather than filling the corners in at their local football ground.
